A Child. Your Child. Your Baby.

Ditto. Children's Day... childhood memories of this day is vague. Probably during our era, celebrating such occasion was a luxury. In today's times, perhaps parents need an occasion/ excuse to splurge on their children, to lessen the guilt of not spending enough time with them. I am one of them. The dilemma and debate whether my decision to return to workforce constantly play out in my mind. So on this special day, I took them out for a treat.

Our first pit stop was to Swenson for a family meal.

Happy Children's Day

I noticed that the restaurant basically had 2 groups of people - the working nearby and families.  Indeed,  I guess most parents flocked to the baby market at expo, if not, they would be crowding family friendly malls and restaurants. Okay... I guess most of us got to take leave on this day because of CC closure and is a school holiday.

Darren was in reservist and so there's only me, Jon, Matt and maid plus my mum and my nephew. Lunch was good with ice cream treats for the kiddos and buffet salads for the adults. Then Jon had a surprise. His daddy came out from camp to spend some time with him.

getting started on his automobile

Jon got a treat from daddy to ride on this automobile that was outside the starbucks area at vivocity. $5 for a 5 min play... I thought that was super expensive but promise is a promise. Daddy's promise even more so can't be broken.

getting some help from daddy

Jon absolutely had no idea he need to steer so daddy had to follow him around, to steer him out of trouble literally.

daddy @ play

Jon is lucky... blessed to have a daddy that would play with him. Traditional Chinese father tends to be a stern authoritarian which often drives a wedge between him and his children. Thank God, times have changed. With Dad for life campaigning, I am sure there are plenty of fathers stepping out of shadow and engaging themselves with their kids.

So what's mummy doing with Matt while Jon and daddy pair up for a fun time?

selfie time

Haha... cam whoring ourselves in the toilet. Selfie time :)

Next pit stop is children's heaven - Toy R Us. This is where we spent our whole afternoon, moving from shelf to shelf, kiddos having fun, surrounded by toys.

shape sorter by K's kids

After combing the whole place for almost 2 hours, the boys picked this shape sorter. Interestingly, this shape sorter came with an instruction on how to combine different aspects such as physical, social and physiological in each play. There were actually only 3 basic shapes, triangle , square and circle. However, each shapes came with 3 other texture toys that the child can play with. Priced at $39.90, it is certainly the most interesting shape sorter concept I ever came across. Meant for 6 to 36 months. Perfect for my boys.

Tea break was at my favourite TCC before we headed home. Children's day.... it certainly feels so, even for adults. Just spending time with the kids before they grow up too quickly.
