My Struggle

Image
I took this photo in the plane on my way back from Manila. I always like this type of nature shot because you can see the wonders of God's creation. Furthermore, the vastness of the sky and sea makes my problem even smaller. Like a grain of sand along the beach. I do not know if any bride ever struggles as much as me. 6 more months to go and I'm still struggling internally whether to go forth. I know my guests and my helpers are being put in a difficult position. And maybe at the end, I won't be able to invite all that I need to. But does it all really matter when you are exchanging your vow, knowing that you have struggled, cried together and worked it through all the issues? As I typed this, I am still struggling. I am still apprehensive about telling people my wedding date. At the end of the day, I realised that it doesn't matter if people feels that he loves me or not. Because ultimately, I need to feel more than his love. A marriage is not built just on love and as

Manila Getaway

Image
Went to Manila last weekend. It was really a touch and go short trip. Mainly to visit my best buddy, Jazmin and my god-son Lance. Was a trip of food and more food. Manila has all kinds of food to offer now. In this trip, I tasted their chinese hotpot aka steamboat, the Philippines cuisine, Greek food and Korean food. Yummy steamboat... who can resist? Try it with their peanut sauce. Next up, something special - Greek Food. Candied walnut with cheese and iceberg lettuce. This is really special. They got the cheese melted in this pan with wine. And they served it with the flame and shouted "Oopa" before setting it on your table. Spread the cheese a little on your bread or dip your bread into the wine sauce. Either way, is very nice and I kept asking why the owner doesn't do a franchise in sunny island here? Roasted lamb with potatoes and below, chicken kebah Definitely to do in Manila is to try their Philippines cuisine. I tried a new restaurant, C2 at their Shangri-La Exc

Whose Birthday is it?

Was it his? Or all of us? But the answer is pretty obvious, or is it not?

Welcome Robert!

Image
May I present Robert, the little dwarf hammy. "she" was thought to be a female, packed in a box with her siblings. Was 3 months old when I got her and she was the slow and blur type. Now that she has grown bigger and her gender was quite obvious. "She" has turned out to be a "He". So is Robert to stay and his nick is Robo... Luo Bo. Unlike my previous hamsters, he looks very comfy in his cage. Very eager to return to his home after a min or so running around on the floor. Not greedy. Doesn't take my bait of raisin so I can take a good photo of him. Sleepy at 80% of the time and very awake at 4.30am. He will take on his wheel and spin it round and round... way before my alarm clock ring. Robo ... the sleepy hamster.

Medley of a Celebration

Image
Birthday came and went. It was a nice celebration with a few small surprises and hiccups. Friday surprise came with Awfully Chocolate Cake in rum and cherry flavour. Saturday ... he was late for a total 20 mins. Reason being : to pick up this lovely bouquet of Gerberas. But still ... is just an excuse Next hiccup was at FireStation The surprise birthday was supposedly to be at this secluded Firestation along Bukit Timah road. However, it was so secluded that it was not opened for lunch. We went off to search for another place. Initially wanted to go to this chill out place but turned out, it has closed down. In the end, we went to Pasta Fresca for some good Italian food. Cream of Mushroom for the start Salads with cherry tomatoes, olives, cheese Linguine with mushrooms and asparagus in creamy sauce Risottoes rice with seafood and olives Last but not forgetting, a rich Tiramisu to end off a hearty Italian afternoon. Mama Mia! We ended the day with our maiden trip to Dempsey Road. We

Happy Birthday?

with another 30 mins more to my birthday, it is with great sadness I come here to announce this sad news. The bubble of surrealism burst. Welcome back to harsh reality where sometimes, things just won't go your way. Just as we were rejoicing that we finally got our own place, the seller backed out and decided he's not going to sell his flat anymore. It was a week ago when we both thought things are finally moving on and now, we are back to square one again. I don't know what else can I say. I will just end off here.

1st time in New York

Image
oh... It's my first time in New York... but is not the New York New York we are talking about. Is the local's diner hunt for american food - New York New York Welcome to New York New York! We didn't really know what to expect. Big portion? Heavy duty meaty grill? Creamy soda float? So it's back to their menu for revelation. After placing our orders... we busy ourselves with their tomato sauce. Here's why... Darren said their tomato sauce must be good because they are so happy! (* look at the smiley cap) ... alright, is cheesy to the bone... so we better get down to business. Dish was served fast and in a reasonable portion. I have taken a liking to caesar's salad recently and NY's portion is generous. But I should watch my diet otherwise, very soon I have to upgrade to "L" size clothing... *sharks!* So in considering my expanding waistline, I forgo my steak and order their Latino Chicken Chop although seriously, I'm not sure if it will make any

Party of 3

Image
A party of 3 - Darren, his mum and myself. We headed to West Coast Plaza for Dian Xiao Er but was packed due to Mother's Day. So we settled at a chinese restaurant "Tian Wang" at level 1. Since it was Mother's Day, they offered ala carte and set menu. We picked the set menu for 4 pax at $68++ and these were what we got. Shredded crabmeat with mushroom soup. The bowl caught our eyes, shaped like an indigo, we were quite fascinated by it. But then, I guess we were just too hungry and finished this soup in a record time < 5mins Their signature dish - Emperor Chicken. Well, it really looked like this dish is from ancient China. The colour of the chicken skin is exactly what we would have seen from those periodic kungfu drama serial. Like the samsui chicken from soup restaurant you got to eat this Emperor chicken with their special garlic sauce. After this hibernate period, the next few dishes came up swiftly. Actually I was disappointed to see their veggie portion.
