Best Game Ever

Image
I'm a fan of words game and Angeline has been a worthy opponent. I had always been losing the games but the last 2 games, I managed to win. Haha... but it was the last game we played that I felt it was really a good game. Check out the words we pinged together. In case, you haven't realised my nick is Pommerie and I will welcome your game.

Impulsive Buy

Image
Darren wanted to get me a bag, a Gucci bag but I declined. I just can't bring myself to spend more than a thousand on a bag even if it is a gift. Is too extravagant and the money could be put into better use for Jon. But since he wanted to buy something for me, I checked out Reebonz. Guess what I clicked. Kate Spade Kate Spade Pop Art Nylon Stevie Bag Purse Tote Pink Is still sitting at one corner of the house and I wonder when will I get to use such a bright pinky bag. I called it an impulsive buy. Oh well!

Flashy Times

Image
Finally the flashcards are here. Was introduced to Glenn Doman  by a colleague and was impressed by what her 15MO son could do after learning from flashcards. There was quite a big range of flashcards and we decided to try out the most basic set. Ordered this Newborn program in early March, only to receive 3 weeks later. Though not a newborn anymore, the flashcards could still catch Jon's attention. Hope this will be a good start to enlarge his vocabulary.

Carrot Puree

Image
Bought organic baby carrots 2 weeks ago to make carrot puree. The first attempt was quite a failure. The quantity was too little to blend here, hence was choppy. 1st attempt on Carrot Puree Second attempt on carrot puree. Double the amount of carrots I steamed and blended and it turned out to be better. More fluid puree from this attempt. 2nd attempt of carrot puree But boo hoo.... check the face on carrot puree Yikes!  Sigh! Maybe another time.

I'm still at it!

I'm not kidding when I said I'm out to conquer all the flavours from Twelve Cupcake. PB Chocolate Mango Strawberry Vanilla Got myself 3 new flavours on Sunday and I am still amazed at how true the taste could be, right to their name. PB chocolate is like mouthful of peanut butter, ate the Mango like a fruit and sweet Strawberry Vanilla has the nice fruity strawberry taste. I really can't wait to finish all their flavours. I'm pretty sure I'm in for a surprise!

The Mac War : MacBook vs MacPro

Image
The techie guy at home decided that my MacBook is due for upgrade and he decided that I should upgrade to MacPro. Oh well! Ended up I'm Mac-less for a few nights while he figured out how to transfer everything I got in my MacBook to the MacPro. I'm not exactly looking forward to the MacPro. I'm quite a sentimental person and I luv MacBook. It has served me well for the past 2 years. Just hope the transition is smooth and no data is lost in outerspace.

Preschool Selection #1 - MindChamps

Some thing just got to start. Jonathan would have to attend childcare once he hits 18 months. With a lot of bad publicity on childcare centres (ie mistreated kids, HFMD etc), we wanted to take our time and really source for a good preschool for Jonathan. So we took the opportunity to tour around MindChamps @ Fusionopolis since today was their Welcome Day. Jonathan's cousin is attending MindChamps and that's how we got to know them. Chanced upon their Fusionopolis branch when my lab mates had a lunch gathering at one of the Korean restaurants. Their curriculum and facility - there is no question about it. I like their way of exposing kids to different areas, in academic, artistic and musical sense. By keeping their class size small, it also ensure all kiddos got adequate attention from their teachers. Positive points about MindChamps 1. Honest answers - staff attrition rate, limitation to nature exposure since they are housed in a mall. 2. Clean facility 3. No pressu

A New Style of Swim

Image
Jonathan just got upgraded to a sit-in float today. He was equally excited about the swim, kicking away so furiously. This also means papa Darren signed on another 10 more lessons for him.

Awfully Chocolate

Image
Guess what is this? This is the much talked about Awfully Chocolate's Dark Chocolate cupcake. Yes, I'm still big on cupcakes and Awfully Chocolate lives up to its name. Nothing but chocolate and chocolate in each bite :)

Pigeon! We Luv You!

Image
Guess what happened to our Philips Avent Sterilizer. We bought it on 28 May 2011 and started using for 6months only and it crashed on us. Best part was Darren went to the Philips HQ at Toa Payoh for repair or replacement since it was still under the 2 years warranty, the staff said "Sorry, we can't help you. The new replacement will only be done in 7 days. We have no other loan set." Duh! What a considerate customer service!!!  In the end, we went out to buy Pigeon and till now (7 days have passed), there is still no call from Philips. Philips Avent vs Pigeon 0 : 1 Pigeon wins!

*no title*

Seriously I have no idea what to name for this new post. It is random thoughts I had gathered for the past week. For example, I have officially stopped breastfeeding on Thursday 8 March. It has been an eventful 6.5 months journey in breastfeeding. The road was not smooth but I'm glad I have persevered on till Jonathan hit 6 month old. With the experience I gathered from this time, I am more aware of what makes breastfeeding work for my 2nd child (if I ever have any). On Friday morning, I suddenly realized what it meant by Grateful Tuesdays  from mum in the making blog. For a while, I thought it was a weekly meeting with fellow Christians. Then it dawned to me it was a thanksgiving day for her. What a meaningful way of remembering God's grace in good times and bad. Indeed, it came in time as I had been flooded with bad news. I don't have a Grateful Tuesday but I will remember to thank God for every big and small things. For example, I'm thankful for Jonathan even th

Home Cooked Spaghetti

Image
After a hiatus from cooking, I'm finally back in my kitchen. Minced meat with mushroom spaghetti Decided to do a simple lunch since Darren is working and I need to work fast in the kitchen while Jonathan is sleeping. My simple lunch became angel hair spaghetti with minced pork and mushrooms. Broiled broccoli as side. If Jonathan keeps up the routine, I may be able to do more fanciful Saturday lunch. *cross my fingers*

Mothercare Sales

Image
Agoo Leggings Mothercare @ Harbourfront is having her 15% discount storewide sales. Yesterday was the 1st day open to public and a lot of good buys were out of stock. Wanted to grab the Leapfrog musical activity table but it was sold out. In the end, we bought Alfie  and Agoo leggings. The leggings were going for $14.90 per pair and was 1-for-1. Anyway, I haven't figured out what's the purpose of a leggings for boy but apparently Papa Darren said ah boy could use it as knee guards when he starts to crawl. Oh well!

Alfie

Selling @ Mothercare (UP $26.90) Is Jonathan's new best friend. Jonathan will chuckle whenever Alfie starts his singing and flashing his tummy lights.

Roasted Apple Puree

Image
Remember I got this from NTUC finest (FairPrice Finest). I tried it on Jonathan yesterday after his late morning nap. While the instruction on the package said that there's no need to warm up food content, I put half of the puree onto his Avent milk bottle cap and warm up the puree with hot water (like how I warm up EBM). Of course, I have to eat what Jonathan is going to eat. Not bad. At least it was not as sour as my apple puree. I was a little concerned about the brown colour as it looked like badly oxidized apple. But then, it could be the roasted effect. Anyway from Jonathan's smile, you know for sure, he likes his apple puree. But after a while, he got phlegmy. Wonder if it was due to the apple puree. Will give him the other half of the apple puree and see if he gets phlegmy again.

High Chair

Image
Jonathan @ 6MO Jonathan had his first attempt sitting unassisted. Here he was, sitting on the baby chair @ Mac. Another milestone achieved.

New Organic Food

Image
NTUC Finest Promotion : 2 packs for $3.95 Saw this at NTUC Finest just now and bought 2 packs. Hope ah boy will like it.

Insanity Con't

Image
Darren bought me another 3 cupcakes yesterday and I .... dropped them before I could take a pix. This was what I have savaged. New Item : Chocolate Meltdown Lychee Mocha At the rate I'm going, I am pretty sure the weight I lost will come back and hunt me down.

Siao Liao

Image
Baileys Chocolate Red Velvet Rum and Raisins From the above, you can tell I have really gone nuts over them. I have to say I am totally intrigued by Twelve Cupcakes. Their alcoholic cupcakes are really packed with liquor. I felt myself warmed up after biting the rum and raisins. The box also smelt of liquor. Don't say I didn't warn you....

Getting there

Image
As each day passed, he is picking up new skills and new tricks. At 6MO, he finally has the strength to hold onto his own milk bottle.

Sour Apple

Image
Another attempt on apple puree. Used half an apple with 5 mins steaming then blended it. The texture now was more of a puree and less watery. Well, Jonathan was all game for his apple puree. While tasting it, I think he had a change in mind. Yikes! It was too sour! Sigh! Now that I got my portion right, the taste wasn't right. Hope the next apple - pink lady can do the job better.
