my 35 month toddler

Image
Just a month shy from his 3rd birthday, Jonathan achieved many milestones in his times. I'm glad he could be weaned off his pacifier at 29 month old, be toilet trained (for day) at 32 month old, starting to talk and forming sentences at 33 month old. At around the same time, he started to show a keen interest in reading and would want to read a book or two during bedtime.  At 35 month old now, he could sit still with me for a while, good enough to finish 6 pages of his Heguru worksheets and complete 1 row of number writing. circling his answers answering which is lesser One extra bonus point is that he would hold the marker pen and circle the answer himself. Although he still needs to practice holding pen/ pencil and write in a more definite manner (he's writing more in a calligraphy style), I am very happy with his progress. guiding him to write We are also doing more writing now, starting with numbers as I found him counting off the numb

Love the Long Weekend

Image
I hadn't slept like this for a super long time… for 2 days in a row, I got to sleep past 8.30am. It is totally unbelievable. Whatever sleep debts I had, it is fully paid for. Love this long weekend.. because it means we get to go out to the park to catch fresh air, have a healthy dose of Vitamin D and let the little legs get some exercises. It was through this outing, did I get to see how Jonathan could jump with both feet off the ground, how he could run so fast and how agile he has become. Long weekend means we could visit the farmart, feed the animals and enjoy the little countryside of sunny isle. From this outing, I realise Matthew is not just interested in feeding the animals, he wants to touch and feel the animals' fur and what kind of sounds they made. Long weekend means more time to rest and be recharged. Looking fresh in selfie ;p

which hairstyle?

Image
While in the process of housekeeping my Mac, I found some old photos of myself in various moments - with different hairstyles. Now… which hairstyle should I take? I am surely going to keep my hair long but should I have a bang or keep the fringe long to pin it up or keep it half way there? have a bang? pin it up? half way there? what's your vote?

Pit Stop @ Munich

Image
After working intensively for 2 weeks away from work, me and my colleague made a pit stop at Munich for some sun, sightseeing, food and shopping before going home. We had only 2 days which we really packed it to the brim. Arrived Munich in the early morning and we took the subway to our hotel. While I had figured out which station we should alight, I didn't had a map on hand to get to our hotel. Ended up we took the wrong route and walked a big round. Even then, we met really kind people on the street that helped us so much in getting to our hotel. Drei Löwen Booked our stay at Drei Lowen through Trivago website. It was stated to be a 4* hotel with free wifi, air condition and near to train station. hotel lobby We were pleasantly surprised that the Germans speak good English and we absolutely had no communication with them. For the pricing we paid, less than Euro $200 per night, it was a non-frill but clean hotel. We wasted no time in explorin

I think my threshold for staying away from home is 1 week. Anything more than a week, I start to be homesick. Unfortunately, I still have another week to go before I can return home. To keep morale up, my colleagues and I cooked up a storm in our service apartment. We experimented with chicken curry, fried rice and soup etc. It was really our morale booster. When we got too tired, we headed to the nearby Macs for a quick recharge. the cheeseburger from their Mac Or sometimes we treated ourselves to better food. lime lemonade Eat at their restaurants and mostly is grilled meat and salads. I miss my Poh boys a lot and I would request Darren or the maid to take photos of them and sent to me. my smiley Jon my cutey Matt I'm glad I am in the times of technology where phone calls and sending of photos are just a click away. Still the time difference sometimes make it hard to hear their voices plus I don't always wifi connection.

When you are going to stuck in foreign land for 2 weeks, you will need to pack comfort food along. For us, after a tedious and extremely long day, we returned to our apartment to cook …. Chicken Curry! our chicken curry completed with potatoes Prima Deli's chicken curry is a good choice. It is not too spicy, easy to cook and delicious to eat. We even completed our meal with rice….. It pays to know how to cook rice without a rice cooker. We bought rice grains and cooked the rice over stove and pot. Thankfully, I remember how my mum taught me to gauge the amount of water to put in. And of course, water remains our 100% essential items. Whenever we made a trip to the supermart, we will stock up on water. 3 x 5L water jelly cans, assortment of flavoured drinks, milk and 12 x 0.75L sparkling waters… this is how much we need to last for 3 days. We even joked that the cashier must be thinking we are crazy, a trolley full of water. It is supposed to

Beginning July with...

an overseas working trip.  This is my first longest work trip away, slightly more than 2 weeks in another part of the world. First time experiencing daylight saving and it leaves me constantly disorientated. Ever seen a bright 9.30pm 9.30pm and another bright 6.30am 6.30am It is like the sun never set and it would be 11pm before we see the moon. Transiting at Munich means shopping and shopping. My first shopping loot from Munich…. Longchamp's le pliage bags which were really at a steal & a tee for the hubby. Hope these 2 weeks would pass over soon. I miss the Poh boys.

What a relief!

Will she come back or not? That had been the question that was playing in our mind in the last week of June.  On 1st July, around 11am I received an important SMS. It was a SMS that put our anxiety at rest. At 4pm, we saw her at Changi Airport and at that moment, it was an extreme relief to us! With her coming back, we ended our maid-less June sweetly.
