Date Night

Image
Qn: How long did your courtship last? *think think* The truth is if you need to think about your courtship period, then it means your courtship is over. Whether in a 3 years relationship or a 9 year relationship; whether it is a newly wedded couple or a married-for-10 years couple, courtship should never cease. This was a serious advice given by our Pastor during our marriage prep course. We take it seriously because we know if we would want to survive for next 5 or even 6 decades, we need to really play it up. Tomorrow is our Date Night. We are going to catch . Anime, video games theme songs and more, playing live in the University Cultural Centre. I hope it would be a wonderful evening. But the recent work stress has left me quite brittle. I find myself susceptible to flu virus. I thought I just recovered from a bout of flu 2 weeks ago. Just now while doing the ironing, my nose started to become runny. Perhaps is the lack of sleep or should I say the lack of quality sleep that is lo

needs some rest

Getting a headache almost everyday. 2 weeks ago, I was given a day and half medical leave. Then last week, I started to have headache. It is what people termed it as tension headache. Caused by tension. For this week, 3 days in a row, I'm plagued by headache. It is annoying and really uncomforting. I tried to relax myself, tell myself not to be too worried with all the work problems. But at the back of my mind, the working image kept on re-surfacing. Oh dear!

Tales from Sydney

Image
My darling is finally back from Sydney after a week. He showed me the photos he took and told him his experience. What caught my surprise was that their mode of transportation included ferry. First up, since the hotel he stayed and the place he needed to go for training was quite a distance away, he bought their MyMulti, equivalent to our EZ Link pass. The train stations and the multiple interconnections platform reminded me of my visit to Perth as student. While back then, we took ferry to cross over to King Park, it didn't strike me that in other cities, ferry was a mode of transportation for them too. get your direction right with this map Darling told me from his hotel to the office he was working, it was a 45 minutes train ride. Can you imagine? It is the distance of us traveling from the west to the east of Sunny Island. one of the many ferry station s Traveling in ferry seemed to be quite a good way to unwind after a long day of work. landscape of Sydney And how can you forg

Past Mid Week

Image
I'm so glad it is already past mid-week which can only means that Weekend is coming. And also Darren is coming home. Home Alone Season 2 is none the better than the previous out-of-town experience. Just that this round, the work really keep me busy busy the whole day. And night time seems to have cut short. Wishing Saturday will arrive sooner than before and my dreadful headache be gone. Perhaps this time round I will get a Koala hug. Picture from Google Images

Lamington - my new discovery

Image
Lamington is an Australia cake. I had my first taste at Raelene's birthday party. She's an Australian. At my first glance of the cake, I thought it was some Malay's kueh. Then I overheard a lady exclaimed that it was a piece of delicious cake. Immediately my ear pricked up. Cake? You mean the kueh lookalike is a cake? And so it was. A sponge cake layered with thick chocolate. Sprinkled a healthy dose of grated coconut. There you go... a Lamington cake is borned. I got my fix at Gloria Jean coffee house. They sell a decent piece of Lamington cake in chocolate or strawberry flavour at $2.50 each.

Porridge - my Fav

Image
When it comes to certain food, I have my own preference. For the record, if I start to have a preference for that particular food, it means that if I have to eat it, it must be from that place, that stall, that restaurant etc. Cantonese loves porridge, so am I. In order of preference, this will be where I go if I need to satisfy my craving. 1. Soon Lee Porridge Located at Clementi Central Market & Hawker Centre , the stall was there when I was in primary school and until now, the stall is still around and the standard never drop. Now closed for hawker centre renovation. To satisfy my craving, I found another stall that sells equally good porridge. 2. Scallop & Ginko Nut Porridge A1 porridge now operates as a franchise or chain stores. My first encounter was at Great World City food court. The second round was at Raffles City Shopping Centre. Besides good porridge, they serve claypot rice too. 3. If you have the dollars to spend, you can have your sliced fish and abalone porrid

Total Insanity!!!

Image
I must be mad! I must be crazy! I'm totally insane to spend such amount on these furnitures. Okay okay... I'm all so hyped up, agitated, heart pain because of them. Baroque Furniture Picture Source : http://www.homestansted.co.uk/images/hi-int-1716.jpg Picture Source : http://www.furnitureshopuk.com/uploads/products/229:1-INT2272.jpeg I didn't really buy these pieces but I bought something similiar. Baroque style furniture. To be exact is just a small round table with glass top and 2 chairs without arm rest. I had them in all white because I thought it would look really cool and nice. When I bought my furnitures from The Cottage Crafts , I didn't think too much. All I wanted was a small table as my study table. But I guess I got lost in their range and over-indulged on myself. This furniture spree cost me a 2K lesser in my piggy bank. Is more roti days ahead...

the TRUTH is OUT!!!!

Many people has been waiting for this until their necks become so long. There's no more reason why I shouldn't "announce" the renovator that did our house. If you have been reading my blog, you would understand our frustration when we were renovating our house. After 3 months of moving into our new house, we still have problems, unresolved. 1st up - our slow track closing aka soft closing. When we were doing our cabinets, all cabinets including kitchen and wardrobe and shoe cabinet, we have specifically requested all doors and drawers to be equipped with such gadgets. We were quite prepared to fork out abit more and so we were surprised that the company was willing to throw in all these without raising the quotation and used BLUM on our cabinets. The issue is not all kitchen cabinet doors worked fine. We called back the project manager and asked to resolve this issue. Guess what his reply : "This one hor, is heng suai one (depends on luck). Depends on the landin

i have to learn to cope

I have been feeling dejected these few days. This feeling stemmed from several events and remarks. I have tried to steer myself into a hopeful situation. Spent more time reading the scriptures. Prayed more to have the sense of Peace back into my soul. I also have flipped through my past journal entries, to remind myself that in all circumstances, I have Christ in me. I don't want to let myself fall into the "Herd Mentality" group. I don't want to stay in a comfort zone because I dare not try out new things. I haven't figured out what's my next best step to take. For this, I have to learn to cope now. Sometimes, I pray for a selfish motive. For that, I'm sure God won't grant me. It is a struggle for me to seek the delicate balance between a Christian and a girl in this world. It is a struggle for me to be "in this world but not part of this world." When the mouth proclaim, in Him we put our trust. But how much did our action actually carry our

For You Alone

Image
You are the peace that guards my heart, my help in time of need You are the hope that leads me on, and brings me to my knees. For there I found You waiting, And there I found release So with all of my heart I worship, And unto You I sing For You alone deserves all glory, for You alone deserves all praise Father, we worship and adore You, Father, we long to seek Your face. For You alone deserves all glory, for You alone deserves all praise Father we love You And we worship You this day. Happy Easter

What a Privilege!

Image
I know this is Maundy Thursday, the Holy night before Good Friday which commemorated the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. I should be in a contemplating mood, mediate on the goodness of Christ and all that the LORD has done. But today is 1st April, besides being known as April Fools' Day , it is also Raelene's 70th Birthday. And I got invited to her surprise birthday party, organized by her children, Lauren & Darren. It was a very lovely birthday surprise. I really loved Raelene's expression when she saw her friends gathered at Lauren's house. *The children came up with a plot to trick Raelene into thinking she's there for a baby's party instead* What's even more lovely and truly a privilege is hearing Alexander Souptel playing LIVE. He's really amazing and such a humble man for a master in his trade. I'm so inspired by him that I came back home and picked up my violin. Me + My Violin + My New Haircut Oh yes! That's me with my new haircut. It w

Going again

to cut my hair short. Last cut my long hair from near waist length to a short bob at chin length in Dec last year. 4 months have passed and now my short bob becomes a middle length style, touching my shoulder. But this trip, I'm apprehensive because I'm not going to Oliver, dubbed the "golden scissor man". Too poor to afford his service - charging $120 for a haircut, excluding GST. I hope I can still end up with a nice bob. *the desired bob* Picture Source - Google for Short Bob
