20 week

Today marks the beginning of my 20 week of pregnancy. It is a milestone, it is the mid point of a 40 week pregnancy. For 3 nights in a row, I start to feel the tiny kicks of my little baby boy. It feels like little pebbles being dropped onto your tummy. The kicks are so random and so unexpected but when it happens, my love just pours out to him. Mid point of pregnancy means preparing for the arrival of Xiao Poh has to step up. Though we have already thought of the english name, it is the chinese name that really challenge us. We are still looking for the inspiration to name our firstborn. Next are all the baby stuff we need to get ready. The list is just so endless so I'm grateful when friends offered to pass us their baby stuff. It helps us to save a little and most importantly helps us to have a kick start on what is needed for Xiao Poh. Of course, there are many times too I day dream about Xiao Poh. How he will look like? Will we cope with the nightly feeds? Will I panic when he

More baby stuff to unload

The list of things for Xiao Poh is endless. Everytime we go out for a walk in the shopping mall, we will end up buying something for him. This round, we went to Baby Hypermart at Kaki Bukit. The sales person was imparting a lot of knowledge on baby's cot and bedding set. In the end, we bought a complete bedding set from her which wasn't cheap to begin with. This lovely blue tedding bears bedding set cost us $129 and that was after a $30 discount. Comes with a pillow, 2 bolsters, 1 comforter, 2 bumpers, mattress sheet, pillow case and bolster cases. And then there's the beanie pillow we need to get too. For 0-6 months beanie pillow for head, and a beanie pillow across the chest. Comes in 2 different sizes for the growing baby. The price was too.. uhm.. expensive. $80 for a set of 3 after $10 discount. Then we heard about how people use cloth diaper, not for the baby to use but to use as a blanket to swaddle the newborn. Use it to line the mattress when baby needs to sleep ou

Avocado Milkshake

Image
I made my first avocado milkshake last weekend. NTUC was selling 2 avocados for $2.60 but 2 days after I bought them, the price dropped to $2.40. Avocado is in season now! The first obstacle I needed to clear was how to choose a ripe avocado. From the googled result, a ripe avocado will be a bit soft to touch. I bought my avocados but they were still unripe and waited for 5 days to get to the riping stage. To make avocado milkshake, you will need (1) avocado (2) milk (3) sugar When an avocado is ripe, you will just need to slice around the fruit to remove the seed. The texture would be very creamy like butter. I blended my avocados with about 500mL of Meiji milk, ice cubes and added sugar to taste. You can use honey too. End result, 6 glasses of avocado milkshake. Check out how creamy it was, unlike those diluted ones you find outside. Taste best when chilled.

We are planning to read to Xiao Poh every night since pregnancy book stated baby at week 16 onwards, have developed hearing skill. Then we passed by Popular bookstore and saw this Baby Boy Bible on discount. Yup yup, doctor confirmed that we are having a little baby boy! It is never too early to introduce Jesus to Xiao Poh. My Saturday Fun

Image
We decided to do something we never done before. That's to wake up early on a Saturday and go marketing in a traditional wet market. And I luve it! Things are cheap and fresh. Take a look at my loot. Soya Bean @ $1 Whole bunch of Cai Xin @ $1 15 pieces of Yong Tau Foo @ $3.50 10 handmade large fishballs @ $1 Large cuttlefish @ $4 Then there were all these "roadshows" that captivated us. In the end, we bought these microfiber clothes for 9 pieces @ $6 with a free hook. Plus this mop that seemed so easy to use @ $10. I hope I can wake up early again next Saturday for another round of wet market adventure. Beats the NTUC!
