Ah Gong!

Image
Chopped off my long hair to save myself from being a botak. Actually very 不舍得, mainly I spent close to $400 to straighten my hair in Dec (which was a terrrible expensive mistake) and I cut it all short after 2 months. But given 2 options (1) be hairless and ugly OR (2) have short hair and be ugly I chose #2, at least I still have  (limited) crowning glory at my top. I just hope with this "sacrifice", my hair loss would be greatly reduced and new hair growth has a chance to catch up. No Hair and No Milk - what a sad and pitiful predicament :(

Coming to an end

Image
I think this time round, it is for real. I am stopping or force to stop breastfeeding soon with a dwindling milk supply. Just crossed my finger, this meagre supply will continue for another month so that Jonathan can have his full 6 months of breast milk.

For the next 6 months....

Finally got a new diaper bag - the 3rd bag. I was amazed at the numerous compartments for this Allerhand bag and I was even more amazed at its price tag - $148 for a bag! I thought I would try my luck in winning a free Allerhand with the Young Parents magazine but apparently, I didn't have such luck. So with the 20% discount + 3% Isetan cardholder discount, I finally got my hand on it. With so much compartments and small little functional gadgets, I hope this bag would really serve its purpose well, at least for the next 6 months... And with ah boy turing 6 month old today, we got him a look alike bumbo chair. Selling at $49.90 for this Korean's Vivi chair, I hope Jonathan will sit in it. With Jonathan turning 6 month old today, a new set milestones awaits for us. Happy 6 Month Old, Jonathan!

Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant

Image
Had a lunch date with Darren on Thursday. We went for deal.com discounted meal, located at M Hotel's Hokkaido Sushi Restaurant. I made a reservation for two at 12 noon and thought that the restaurant would be bustling with the lunch crowd. But no, it was very quiet and there were only 4 other patrons besides us. The deal at $29.90 was the above. The starter was a piece of cold tofu with lobster, roe and century egg sauce. I never like century egg and so I didn't enjoy this starter at all. The sashimi platter consisted of yellow tail, swordfish, salmon, tuna and probably a mackerel. While it was fresh, it did not have the "ocean freshness" like Sakuraya. By the time I started on the Oyakodon (minus egg), the restaurant started to fill with people. Although it was not finger-tasting good, at least I finished the whole bowl right to the last grain of rice. The salmon was interesting. It was my first time to have

Finding Myself

I took a day off today, primarily because my mum had a medical appointment in the morning. It was such a relax day. Waking at 8am with Jonathan. Feeding him milk at 8.45am, followed by a warm bath and off he went to lala land again at 10am. We were supposed to leave at 11am to meet my mum for lunch. But got delay with Jonathan still napping and his poo session before we left. All went well, we took the bus and MRT with the maid carrying all the barang barang. Hang around at Jurong Point before making our way home at 2.30pm. Chilled at home till 5.15pm and gave him his evening bath and he went into lala land again. So here I am, blogging. Also, by chance or by God's mysterious way of doing things. I came across these 2 wonderful blogs by local mummies. Mum in the making - She shared her love for God, her babies and her crafts. She made mundane things become so wonderful. I love her way of homeschooling her boy. She used art & craft to link biblical stories. Leonny&#

Nothing Like Me

Jonathan @ 5MO I notice Jonathan has long eyelashes for quite a while. Finally had a chance to capture it. Phew! Really nothing like mine, a pathetic 0.8cm at its longest!

Crazy Over Cupcakes

Image
This is my phrase of being crazy over cupcakes. We went over to United Square on Sunday so that I could lay my hands on more Twelve Cupcakes. I actually bought 4 more cupcakes, (L to R) : Green Tea, Red Velvet and Mocha and Raspberry Chocolate (not in photo). Raspberry Chocolate was squashed on the way home, it was packed separately as I decided last minute to add in the 4th cupcake. Shared with my mum today. First up, Mocha - Chocolate Cream Cheese on a Moist Coffee Cupcake. Good! We both agreed that the cake was moist and we could smell the aroma of the coffee. Next, Red Velvet. Vanilla Cream Cheese on a Classic Red Velvet Cupcake. Vanilla cream cheese was very sweet but cupcake was very nice. Lastly, Green Tea with an Azuki center. Not too sweet and could taste separately the Azuki red bean and the macha flavour. After all 3 cupcakes, my mum also agreed that the cupcakes were very nice and would be even better if the cr

Sweet Valentine

Image
14 February 2012 Darren came back with a pink box. Wow! Twelve cupcakes! I really thought there were 12 cupcakes waiting for me. But when I opened the box... There were only 3 cupcakes. Oh... so Twelve Cupcakes was the brand and I still thought that they only offer 12 flavours. I was wrong again, they had more than 12 flavours but most were sold out on that day. These were the last few flavours left. Cookies & Cream was the first I sank my teeth. I was surprised by the moist chocolate cupcake. By far, this was the best cupcake I had ever eaten. It even surpassed Gobi 's. However, I found the topping a little too sweet for me. Next, I tried Vanilla Chocolate which was actually vanilla cream cheese on a moist chocolate cupcake. I could taste the cheese but it wasn't overpowering. I saved the best for the last! Chocolate Chocolate. Chocolate cream cheese that was so rich in flavour. Yummy! The best of all, at $3 per cu

Super Perplexed

Was it one week ago that I wrote that I was contemplating to be a Stay-At-Home-Mum (SAHM)? Well, I was very upset on Monday when I received news of the possibility of having to send Jon to IFC. There was conflicts back at my parents' place. The gist of the problem was no one to pick up my bro's kids from childcare centre (CC). In the past, SIL and bro depended on my mum. Since my mum is now looking after Jon, there were a few times I couldn't rush back in time for my mum to leave. So she had to enlist my father's help and now my father made such a big fuss, we are dropping him out of the equation. So my plates became full again with multiple problems. 1. Childcare - who's going to take care of my ah boy? option a - quit my job. Possible but finance will be tight. option b - send to IFC (infant care). But where? 2. Work - Is it the time to quit now? What's my plan? 3. Maid - act blur or pure wood block? In the end, God gives me a way out. I con

Apple Puree

Image
My first attempt to make Apple Puree for Jonatha using the Philips Avent Steamer and Blender last night. End product was very watery with 5 mins of steaming. Amount was much more than expected though I only used a quarter of the apple. This morning, I tried again with another quarter apple. Also with 5 mins of steaming and then I blended it. This time round, it was more of a puree than a juice. Jonathan made a face when I attempted the apple puree on him. He took 5 small spoons and started to fuss. Guess I need to optimize my protocol to make consistent apple puree. Will attempt again next weekend.

Jonathan's First Swim

Image
11 February 2012 Jonathan had his first swim. It went well, better than expected. I must say my baby is a natural when it comes to swimming. Maybe he will be the next sport star to look out for! Haha... Jonathan first demonstrated his back stroke style. Followed by the frog style. Lastly, he showed us he can tread water as well. My baby really enjoyed himself in the water so much that Daddy signed up a package for him. Singapore, watch out for Jonathan in the years to come!

Contemplating

I wonder if there is such a thing as delayed post natal depression. For the past week, I found myself sinking low again. It was like reliving the post partum 1st month again when emo monster took over control of everything. Jonathan usual sleeping habit at 10.30pm, followed by a feed at 3.30am and slept till 8am was interrupted by his recently vacinnation jab. For 3 nights already, he was waking up so frequently that I found myself getting interrupted sleep every hour at night. It was tortuous. For the past 2-3 months, the thought of quitting my job surfaced. It was especially more felt during this period that Jonathan entered teething phrase and slowly weaning into semi solid. I felt that I had no energy left after a day of work. All I wished when I got home is that he just be good, drink his milk and go sleep so I could rest too. I don't feel that I am staying current with the news just because I'm in the work force. I am not doing the things that I dream of doing with h

Kicked Out of Bed

Image
While father and son slept, I got kicked out of the bed by the little boy. Put him on his own cot to sleep, he kept waking up. Put him in the middle of us, he slept so soundly with such a 大 position that I had to give up my space. Life of a mummy.....

The Kiasu Parents

Image
I thought I can be totally chill about Jonathan's education and I even declared loudly that I am not going to  be those parents that send their child to every single tuition class. I really spoke too fast and too quickly. Got to swallow my words back. Bought the Feb issue of Young Parents and I just finished reading the 3 articles on helping your child to ace in the PSLE. Gosh! The next generation is going to be nothing like ours. I feel totally inadequate to help Jonathan to ace in his school. Now I fully understand why there are classes for babies as young as 6 month old. Oh man! I'm so behind times!!

*cringed*

Image
I have deliberated for a long time, deciding whether I should post this horror photo. Really not for the faint hearted! Amount of hair I drop after each shampooing Sigh! For 9 months, I enjoyed zero hair fall and luscious hair. 3 months into post partum, my nightmare began. I don't know what else I can do, change my shampoo, took hair vitamin, on TMC. The last resort is to cut my hair short to take the weight off. Sigh! I spent almost $400 on my hair in December. >_< Guess is $400 going to the drain to save my hair.

好久不见!

I was surprised that I could still hit this amount. I thought my moo moo career is coming to an end. Really spurred me on. Persevering on to the 6th Month. 加油!

Teething Problem

Image
Jonathan has started to drool a lot and biting his fingers more than ever. Sometimes at night he will keep crying. Jonathan is growing into the next stage - teething. Jonathan's teeting toys Not a pleasant journey for him. His sore and painful gums kept him awake and made him hard to drink his milk. We bought quite a lot of those teething toys and chilled them. Sometimes he got comforted by it, otherwise we used Dentinox on him. I have read several of those baby guide books and looked like teething is going to be a long process. Just hope it will get better for him in time.
