Birthday Staycation

We had a RWS staycation on Matthew's birthday. It was an awesome trip to the pools and SEA aquarium, surviving the whole staycation without the helper.

We started with a simple home celebration with a crepe cake from Paris Baguette.

It was an interesting cake with layers of crepe in between the cake. The strawberries topped it off nicely. Everyone had a slice before we moved off to our RWS staycation.

We had a Hard Rock staycation last year for Jon's birthday and this time round, we decided on Festive Hotel. It was a good choice with the bigger space and the loft bed. Matthew loved rolling around on the king size bed.

We settled down quickly and changed the boys to their swimming attires.

We headed to Hard Rock pool as we knew that the boys would love the water play there. Sure enough, Matt had no qualms walking through the water play while Jon decided to play it safe by sitting on his mushroom float.

We didn't stayed too long at the pool. SEA aquarium was next on the list.

Perhaps the boys were tired from the earlier swim, Jon sat on the stroller throughout and Matt was cranky and distracted. We breezed through the exhibits rather quickly and was out in an hour time. Probably I am not a fish person too, I didn't too much of the SEA aquarium despite all the raves about it. Only Darren thought SEA aquarium was nice and interesting.

The jellyfish held more interest for me. I was quite intrigued by their different strains. By the time we were out of the SEA aquarium, it was close to 7pm. Dinner was at one of the Japanese restaurants and it was good that Matt conked out at this moment so that we could eat easier with Jon.

Then it was back to the hotel room to end off the night and the boys had no problem falling asleep since they were exhausted by the earlier activities.

Breakfast was at Palio over at Hotel Michael. As with young children, I had to eat really quickly because they would not have too much patience to sit through a meal. So I brought them out and kept them occupied while it was Darren's turn to eat. Since Matt had just started to walk more steadily with shoes on, he would walked round and round the patio area while Jon looked on at him and laughed.

We were only there for a 2D1N stay so we got back to the hotel and off to the pool again. But this round, we went to the Festive Hotel pool which was also quite appealing to them.

And with that, we ended our staycation. I am really looking forward to more holidays and if everything goes well, we could be looking at Taiwan next year.
