mini update: renovation woes

It was a good thing we decided to pop by our new place to take a look on the renovation progress. It was a pity I didn't bring my camera with me. Everything we wanted to hack off was done. So you can imagine the state of the house now. Right... just sand and more sand everywhere.

And being a Saturday we didn't really expect anyone working but there were 2 workers working on the kitchen wall tiles.

And that's when the trouble started....

Wrong orientation of the titles. Instead of laying down vertically, the tilers placed the tile horizontally. Phone calls made. Arguments exchanged. Verdict: workers to take it all down and lay them up again.

We decided to drop by again. They had swiftly took down the tiles and re-tiled the kitchen again in the orientation we want. But I'm not too happy with the gap between the tiles. Looks to me that it's kinda big.

This also reminds me that the project manager has not shown us the 3D drawing of our flat design. Sigh!

Perhaps this is what people called it : what you pay, what you get.

Couldn't afford the premium of the better renovator and hence, settling for the 2nd best. While project manager has many projects ongoing (think as he can deliver), it also means you probably have to chase him for a lot of things. And he being a project manager means you are not liaising with the interior designer directly but rather through a 3rd party.

Can expect more ping pong ball games to play....
