Don't be rude

It has been quite a few weeks since we washed the car. So seeing today's such a good weather, we gave the car a thorough wash and wax.

We were at the washing bay over at the MSCP. As there are only 2 lots in the washing bay and a lorry parked itself in the middle, we decided to shift to the handicap lot (besides the washing bay) to do the washing. We were just minding our own business when suddenly the car owner besides us came angrily and gave us a hard stare.

He walked with a clutch and he was grumbling quite loudly how we shouldn't wash our car in a handicap lot. Then he opened his back car door and threw his clutch back in and walked to the driver's seat. Then he drove off.

Although there was no direct confrontation, I was indignant by his attitude.

1. There are only 2 lots in the washing bay. Do you really wait till both vehicles drive off before you start washing? Obviously, people don't wait. They go to the next nearest lots which happened to be for the handicap to park, to do their washing. We are not the first and not the only ones.

2. If there is a handicap car going to park its rightful place, we would have moved somewhere else. I equate this to using the handicap cubicle in the public toilet. Do you not use it when there is a long queue and there is no elderly or handicapped person at the moment?

3. We respect the disadvantaged and will gladly moved away. But there is no need to be rude to us.

4. Although his car was parked besides us, there's still a big gap. Besides, we were careful not to dirty his car and the area around his car was dry.

For a gracious society to exist, whether able or disabled people, we need to do our bit.
