The Royal Caribbean Experience - Fine Dining

After lunch, we had the compulsory Muster Drill which prepared all cruise people on board what to do during an emergency. It was hot and tiring and I was glad it finally ended after standing for almost 30 minutes.

We were close to 4.30pm by the time we returned to our cabin. Our first activity on Legend of the Seas was a Captain's dinner. We were scheduled at 5.45pm for 1st seating at Deck 5 (Romeo & Juliet restaurant)

So we showered and changed to our "wedding dinner" clothes and proceeded for our fine dining experience onboard. We weren't the worst dressed as there were people that turned up in Polo-T and jeans but certainly we weren't the best dressed too. The Japanese tourists really dolled up themselves to the nine. The guys came in blazers and ties. The ladies wore pearl necklaces and gowns.

We were ushered to our table #39 and Izzit from Turkey was our server that night.

I thought we would have a pre-ordered dinner but we were given a choice. After placing our orders, we were offered breads.

I took the sun-dried tomato bun and spread some butter on it. It really did have the smell of the tomatoes.

After a short while, our appetizer arrived.

Mine was tomato with tortilla chip soup. The taste was okay but I was surprised that the chef or server did not clean off the side of the bowl before serving.

Darren had the Miyuki beef soup which we all could smell the beef before the soup came.

My main course came with these fried vegetables which was totally disgusting. Why? Because the kitchen staff used back the old old oil and all the veggies had this old oil smell. Yuck!

Honestly, I didn't really pay attention to the menu and when my salmon came, I was quite flabbergasted. I was expecting a pan-fried salmon with salad as side. But it came with rice.

Darren's steak was presentable but I didn't think it was tasty at all.

Finally we came to the last pit - the dessert.

The dessert menu brightened up my dinner experience.

This time round, Izzit recommended Darren a light fragrant tea while I continued with my warm water.

Darren's savarir - sponge cake soaked in liquor with mango bites in it. Toppled with fresh fruits.

It was a bit too sweet but beat the main course.

Mine was the low fat blueberry with peach cobbler, sprinkled with cinnamon powder.

Hmm... yummy yummy!

We left Romeo & Juliet before 8pm and walked around the open deck to enjoy the sea breeze. To end off the night, we were treated to a theatre show at Deck 4.

Opening item was a cabaret dance, followed by special guest's juggling show. It was quite entertaining and a good way to end our 1st day on the cruise.
