Philips Carnival Sale

This is my 2nd time to Philips Carnival Sale and Darren's 3rd time. The 1st time, he went there himself to get a rice cooker for our new home. The 2nd time, we went together to get a blender. This time round, we bought many many things for Xiao Poh and also for our house.

Non-Video Baby Monitor @ $179
(Video Baby Monitor @ $299)

On the advice of BIL (brother-in-law), we bought a baby monitor. This is a device that will amplify the baby's crying and we can hear it through a walkie-talkie device. I think as first time parents and Xiao Poh is sleeping in his own room, it will be useful or essential for us. Will feedback in due course whether it is really worth investing in a baby monitor.

Single Breasts Pump (Manual) bundle @ $85
comes with nipples shield, breasts shield
and disposable breasts pad

I was very confused on the different reviews on different brands of breasts pumps. So many styles, so many models. Single or Duo? Manual or Electronic? Backpack or Carry all? Buy now or buy after delivery? Of course, the price differs greatly too. In the end, I have decided to get a single manual pump due to so many uncertainties. For example, how would I know if I will produce enough breast milk? Then how long would I continue to breastfeed? A duo electronic pump will be the best, save time and energy but I reckon I won't be so hardworking and carry the pump to work everyday. I mean, I have to juggle with an infant and his backpack plus my own bag to work. Do I have the extra hand to carry an electronic pump that is already quite heavy on its own? So if all things fail, I won't feel much heartpain about the $85 compared to $500+ for Avent Duo electronic pump and a $1k Mendala pump. Wish me luck on being a milk cow! ;p

Sterilizer Bundle @ $135
comes with a sippy cup, a pair of pacifiers,
2 milk bottles (125mL and 260mL) and a bottle brush

I always thought that sterilizing only happens in microbiology work. Haha... so baby's stuff also need to sterilize.

Milk powder dispenser @ $8 each
Weaning spoon @ $5

We bought these items on impulse. Not sure if we will get to use it. So these items will be on a "standby mode".

Hair Straightener @ $40

Now that I can't do rebonding or straighten my hair chemically. My hair is always frizzy and messy. If I have a special occasion to attend, at least I have a hair straightener to help me. (PS : Angeline.. hee hee... I am now so ready for your Big Day. Got a new dress, a hair straightener and a new bag.)

Toaster @ $25

I like toasted breads with butter. Smells so nice. After deliberating for so long, I decided I will just buy one and use it when I feel like having toasted bread.

Total damage in a morning : $485
