Phuket - Just for the Foodie

This entire post is devoted to all the yummy food we ate in Phuket. In fact, I'm glad we brought along a laptop. This really proved to be a good move as we googled for the best establishment to have our meal in Patong.

Breakfast was served in the hotel's patio ground. It was an international buffet. The usual stuff you can find in most typical hotel's breakfast.

Our 1st lunch was however, left much to implore. We were hungry. We just sat down at the 1st decent looking stall. The pricing was okay but the food was not what we expected.

The Phai Thai was wet and the noodle was actually the glass noodle.

Our 1st dinner was a walk down in the backlane and we chanced upon the 6 restaurant. It was among the top few restaurant recommended by Trip Advisor.

We always had a vegetable dish in all our meals. But strangely, the thai named their vegetables quite differently from us. For example, this Kai Lan was called chinese broccoli over there.

I wasn't really satisfied with this green curry. I thought it was too lemark.

We continued to source out for the best Phai Thai in town but was met again with a failed attempt.

Although this Phai Thai was fried with kway teow, it lacked the flavour and was abit too oily for our taste.

We wondered if the Phai Thai differs from place to place. We had very good and cheap Phai Thai in Krabi and also in Bangkok. We couldn't find a good Phai Thai in Phuket though.

But all was not lost. We decided to go in search of this famour Seahag by Kenya restaurant. In the Trip Advisor reviews, many raved about their fresh and cheap seafood. Their chef and boss were ever accommodating to any request, less spicy as such.

It was not easy to find Seahag. It was hidden in a small lane but nothing was too much for 2 foodies.

..... and now presenting Seahag by Kenya.

The exterior of the restaurant, which was essentially a 3-storey high shop.

There was an air-conditioned dining area and a small alfresco area, if you like to smoke in between meals. I have to mention that their wash rooms were very well kept, clean and tidy. Ample of hand soap and hand towels. No choking of toilet bowls and no run-out of toilet papers. Excellent!

We usually don't order drinks but this time, I had a soda water

and his coke in that vintage glass bottle.

And now, may I present the freshest, cheapest seafood by Seahag.

The restaurant liked to serve a complimentary dish everyday. We were there for 3 days consecutively, having our dinners.

We were served complimentary chicken soup. Very clear and tasty. Doesn't taste or feel oily even though it looked like it had been soaked in oil.

Chicken Tom Yum - Spicy level to our request. Very fresh chicken meat.

Just right flavour of vegetables. Not too salty or bland.

2 cod fillets in their finest, served in Tamarind sauce.

This grilled squid was the best! For only 250 Baht, you get freshly grilled squid in yellow juice. We were struggling to finish this whole squid by ourselves.

To really see if they were really accommodating to request, I ordered a Mushroom Tom Yum which was not in their menu. And Hey! Really, they didn't even bat an eyelid.

And their prawn salad.... I was totally awed by their fresh seafood. The prawns were so fresh and so succulent.

This was certainly a very good and refreshing appetizer to start.

On our last day there, they served us a complimentary dish of mixed vegetables.

And my long awaited steamed fish in lemon juice and chilli. I didn't even have to worry about having a big hole in my pocket. This big fish dish was at a fixed price and relatively cheap - 340 Baht.

If I ever come back to Phuket again, I would certainly head for Seahag again for all my meals. Highly recommended!
