Phuket - Pool & Beach (Day 2)

20 November  2014

The boys woke up early, like before 7am. Gosh! There's no difference to them in timing even when they were on a holiday. Since they woke up so early, we also went for early buffet breakfast at Seasonal Taste (in-house).

Did I mention for the first night dinner, we took the hotel's shuttle bus service to Phuket Town. We were dropped off at Robinsons in Phuket Town. It was raining and we didn't venture out of Robinsons. Only to eat at their food court which was lousy and bought some breads for the boys. We took the 5pm shuttle and left at 7.30pm. The journey took about 45 mins and cost 100THB per pax per way. Children was at 50% discount.

Back to breakfast, it was those typical international buffet breakfast you would find at a 5* hotel. Jon enjoyed his food this round, much to my relief but Matt couldn't eat. We didn't bring along the food scissors to cut the noodles. Even with a single strand of noodle coiled, he stopped eating a few mouths. For the whole trip, he depended on milk and lost weight by the end of our trip. Sigh!

Jon was very excited about the pool and kept bugging us to bring him to the pool. So I brought him to tour the Horizon Pool. There are a total of 3 pools in Westin, the Horizon, the Splash and the Prego pools.

We took the buggy ride back to our room and changed into our swim suits. The boys wasted no time in jumping into the pool even though the water was cold. The sun hadn't warmed up the pool water but it didn't bother them at all.

water play

splashing at each other

We brought along our beach toys and the Kids' Club @ Westin loaned us another set as well. The boys just enjoyed water play, splashing water at each other. We spent the morning at the pools and then back to our room to wash up. By the time, we were done with all the showers, Matt had fallen asleep and we called room service for our lunch.

our order

pasta for the kids

pita wrap with chicken and veggies

mango trilogy

It took about 40 mins for our food to be delivered. Jon only had one mouth of the pasta and he didn't want anymore. We got the wanton noodle for the boys but Jon also didn't want and Matt was sleeping. The pita wrap was just so-so and the mango trilogy also didn't turned out to be what I was expecting.

Just as Jon was falling asleep, Matt woke up. We then decided to take the shuttle bus again but to Patong beach. The trip to Patong was THB 200 per pax per way and the frequency of the shuttle bus was much lesser. It was a rush affair as it was approaching 2pm and that's the last timing to Patong for the afternoon. We wanted to catch the 6.30pm bus back to the hotel as well, as after 6.30pm, the next timing was 9pm which I thought was too late for the boys.

The bus dropped us off at Jugceylon which was a big shopping area (near Bangla Road) in Patong. We walked over to the beach and let the boys played with the sands.

crowded Patong

Not sure if it was because there was this Asian Beach Games held at Patong during the same period, Patong Beach was overpopulated. It was much more crowded than I remembered 5 years ago.

When we wanted to leave the beach, we realised that Jon's sandals had torn. It became a desperate attempt to find a replacement for him which was not easy as they don't really carry his size and very few shops offered children's foot wear. In the end, we managed to find a pair from Puma at Jugceylon itself.

pit stop @ Macs

Taking a pit stop at Macs before we continued our walk around. We settled our dinner at Fiji, the Japanese restaurant and again, only Jon finished up everything we ordered for him. Matt was fussing non-stop during the dinner.

We then went over to Big C supermarket to top up our water supply. Glad that we managed to complete what we needed to do before 6.30pm and while Jon was enjoying his sundae from Dairy Queen, Matt fell asleep. By the time we reached the hotel, both kids fell asleep. Luck that the Westin staff was helpful, they helped us unloaded our water supply to the buggy as we had to carry the boys.

And our Day 2 was done.
