Winter Sonata Day 4

After an exciting Day 3, we looked forward to our Winter Sonata Day 4 at Everland. As the saying goes, always start the day with a good breakfast and our good breakfast is Abalone porridge.

Abalone Porridge Breakfast

After arriving at Gimpo Airport, we boarded the coach to Everland. It was a long ride. By the time we reached Everland, it was already 12pm in the afternoon. The weather was freezingly cold and it was snowing throughout.

Despite that, I was quite impressed with Everland. First, it was really huge and all outdoor. The top part was more for shopping, kiddy ride plus a few extremely thrilling rides. The bottom part had restaurants, a Safari and thrill rides.

Everland reminded me of Hong Kong's Ocean Park. And also Genting's theme park.

Look down if you dare

We had to get our own lunch here and it was super crowded partly because it was a Saturday and also all the Korean school kids were having their winter holiday.

We were recommended to go for their Safari. And so we queued patiently for 40 minutes in the cold. My hands were constantly numbed. It was actually quite tortuous and this was the only day in our entire trip that we took the least pictures. Only 19 pictures. We had a total of 492 photos for our 8-day trip. Figure it out!

Finally our turn. In a wired bus, we were driven to their enclosure. The setup was like in Jurassic Park - the movie. So it was really exciting even though in the entire trip, we didn't understand a single word the bus driver said.

Was it the cold or the tigers were so well fed, that they just slumbered off?

Exotic Liger - offspring from a lion and tiger. Only 1 in the entire Safari.

Grizzly Bears - Nope, they are not friendly or cute! In fact they are large and frightening.

Due to the crowd, our 5 hours there only saw us having an hour lunch break, and 3 rides taken. The average waiting time for each ride was 35 minutes. So a lot of time was wasted in queuing.

We had to queue again to take the cable car ride up. And we tried to take photos of the snow flakes to kill time.

Crystalized Snow Flake

Actually the snow flake looked exactly what we seen in picture book. They were really beautiful. I was glad to have the opportunity to see, touch and feel snow.

After Everland, it was another long bus ride to Mount Sorak which was our Day 5 itinerary.
