Taiwan Day 1 - Hsin Chu (Pitstop) + Miaoli (Flying Cow Ranch)

We set off on 23 October 2016 with my mum in tow. So that made us a party of 5, 3 adults and 2 children for this 8D7N Free & Easy Taiwan trip. Before we materialised this trip, I was rather jittery about the whole plan because we never done a long trip before and there were many considerations eg. food, accommodation, what do we want to do there and so forth.

I got to know the local driver, 小江, through mummy group's recommendation. He did our itinerary and recommended the 民宿 (minsu) for us. What was good that he did the soft booking and we directly paid the minsu owner so there was no commission drawn. I like that the charges from the driver were transparent.

Moving forward, I booked an afternoon flight to time it with the children's nap. This round, we also got anti-vomit medicine from PD and let the children drank it before boarding. Flight time was very peaceful except occasional sudden urge from the children to use the toilet.

Taiwan was moving to Autumn season so the day was short and night was long. It was only 6pm when we got into the car but it was already very dark as if it was already 8pm.

Dinner was at Hsin Chu to enjoy their famous Hsin Chu bee hoon. It was so good that my mum bought a whole pack of bee hoon home. Personally, I preferred the handmade mushroom meat balls which I re-ordered a 2nd time. Meals at Taiwan were cheap, with the most expensive meal at SGD $50-$60 for the whole group of us.

After dinner, we requested to go for a bakery to standby some breads for the children. We even bought Halloween cupcakes to surprise the children.

2nd Stop - Hsin Chu to Flying Cow ranch at Miaoli

From Hsin Chu, we headed straight down to Miaoli's Flying Cow Ranch for our 1st night stay.

The weather wasn't cold and although we had to manually carry our luggages to the lift lobby, we were made up with the nice room at the Flying Cow. It was already quite late, so we got the children to shower and make them sleep.

And this ended our 1st day in Taiwan.
