Nongsa Turi Beach Resort (Part 1)

We booked a Groupon deal with Nongsa Turi Beach Resort. The original plan was to travel up to Genting Highland to escape from the heat but alas, Genting Resort World is going through a series of upgrading renovation which made it inconvenient for us to go. We chanced upon this Groupon deal and thought to give it a try.

Matthew's fever episode almost made us to forgo this trip. He had a bad throat infection which caused him to have a 40c fever again for many days. The 2nd trip to the PD had Matthew going through urine culture and blood test again. PD then decided to start on antibiotics treatment and advised us bringing Matthew for the short getaway if his fever never subsided. So we waited till Friday morning and then decided to bring him along as the antibiotics treatment was kicking in its effect. Fever was subsided by then.

At SGD 99 per pax, the bundle included ferry ticket (2-ways), breakfast, 2D1N stay at the resort's Premier Room and land transfer. We paid an extra of SGD 17 for each child's ferry ticket and SGD 20 per pax for tax. It was Rp 50, 000 per pax for the return tax. The resort service was excellent. Confirmation of ferry and resort stay was completed within 24 hours with all our special request acceded.

When we arrived at the resort, it was 11am at local time. Our rooms were not ready, hence we adjourned to the resort cafe for a buffet lunch.

At SGD 18 per pax, I would say the spread was good. There was a good selection of starters and salad bars. There was also cream of mushrooms with a variety of breads to go along with.

The main courses were not disappointing too. Staple food such as fried rice (nasi goreng) and fried noodle  (mee goreng) bore a strong local flavour. There were always other local delights such as the mutton curry, sambal prawns and satays too.

fresh fruits

Local fresh fruits were served and the dessert bar was good enough to make me happy.

chocolate cake

custard pudding

strawberry eclairs

mini rum balls

Coffee and tea were at the side, together with fresh orange, pineapple and mango juice.

After a fulfilling lunch, we headed back to the lobby to check with our rooms were ready.

This time round, most of the crowds had dispersed so I managed to take some photos of its spacious lobby.

As the whole resort was built on a slope of the hill, hence the reception counter was at level 4. To get to the dining areas and rooms, we had to walk down to level 1. Then we discovered there was a lift at the other side of the resort so mobility was not a problem anymore.

Our connecting Premier rooms were ready and it was so spacious.

We had one room with King size bed for us and our mothers together with the helper shared a Triple room. 3 single beds in one room and there was still plenty of space for the boys to play catching.

Once we settled down, we booked a cab to Nagoya Hill shopping centre since Jonathan and Matthew were too excited to nap. The return taxi for 5 adults and 2 children was Rp 330,000 and we had 4 hours to shop.

Bought a wallet Rp 39, 000 for the helper and 2 trolley bags for the boys. A Doggy Skip Hop trolley bag at Rp 210, 000 and a Disney Cars luggage trolley @ Rp 249, 000. We also bought new set of pyjamas for them which I intend to keep till next CNY.  We also tried their Chaleaf bubble tea which got us a 50% discount for buying 3 large cups at one go. I was a little hand full with bags and carrying Jonathan or Matthew since we only brought one stroller along. Hence, no photo to supplement this shopping trip.

Dinner was at this Chinese restaurant, Grand Duck which was really cheap and yummy.

We also shared a pot of Jasmine tea and had soup wanton noodle and fish porridge for the boys. The total cost of this dinner was a mere Rp 200, 000 (SGD 22.60).

We returned to the resort and I tried to take a nigh shot of the resort. It was a feeble attempt.

Once we were back, it was the routine for the boys. Bathe and getting them ready to sleep. Thanks to my mum who brought Jonathan to walk while I made Matthew sleep. Jonathan was simply too excited to sleep and we had to coax him hard before he drifted off to lalaland.
