Cooking up a storm? Not really

Taking the advantage of a long weekend and no one's at home. I decided that it is time to reenact the pleasure of whipping up something good for a loved one. So we went to Carrefour after service on a Sunday and squeezed with many others to pick up ingredients for a home cooked meal.

Our home cooked dinner as followed:
1. fishball soup with tofu
2. steamed cod fish with ginger
3. stir fried broccoli with shitake mushroom
4. stir fried asparagus with shitake mushroom
5. steamed tofu with soya

Mistakes after mistakes. We reached home quite late after our last minute grocery shopping. Plus, he had to go work later that night, i was in a frenzy. Mad chopping of garlic, skinning of the asparagus, seasoning the fish. Phew! Dinner was set after an hour or so.

Result? In a hurry, i forgot to use ikan bilis as the soup base. The steamed fish was okay except i felt that it's a bit saltish. My broccoli was still raw and the asparagus lacked favour. Steamed tofu tasted okay except i didn't really know how to handle it, thus it looked quite squashed. Sigh!

So the next day, i took the remaining of my asparagus and shitake mushroom and tried it again. This time, i added osyter sauce for favour but still, it didn't turn up as favoursome as i liked it to be. Well well, i guess there is plenty of room for me to improvement.

Stir fried asparagus with shitake mushroom. Hint: Asparagus cooked faster than mushroom, so throw in the mushroom first to avoid cooking the asparagus.
