Day 9 & Day 10 - Tokyo to Bangkok to Home

We booked an early flight out from Tokyo to Bangkok. The night before when we approached the concierge about booking the cab to airport, we were told that it would be better to buy the coach tickets at the Shinjuku Bus Terminal. It would be more convenient and direct. So the husband set off on his own, exploring the subway instead of walking the long distance out.

It was a good thing we did that. Because the next morning, we needed to set off so early 7am and it started to rain again. We skipped the breakfast and ran out to the nearest train station which was Higashi-Shinjuku station. However, the way to the right entrance also took a while and the exit to the bus terminal also took a while. As usual, we ran all the way and Jonathan suddenly said he need to use the wash room. So husband ran with him to the toilet while me and Matthew went to check in.

All the running in Japan was a good form of exercise. We boarded the bus smoothly and was on our way to the International Airport. After checking in, we spent our time at the souvenir shop and were the last few to board our flight. It was not a full flight so we enjoyed the luxurious space from the empty seats around us.

It was Bangkok time 4pm when we cleared the Thai custom. Pretty messy with their transport system. Our taxi queue no. didn't work very well so we were stranded for a while before we got a big cab to get to our hotel, Berkeley at Pratunum.

I got us a corner suite which came with 2 queen sized beds. Luxurious space in the room but it was pretty run down. We freshened up and decided to go to Central World for steamboat. We had a good and filling dinner at MBK steamboat which the boys enjoyed a lot too.

I did a little of the window shopping only before we called it a night. It was a tiring day but nonetheless, an important transition for us to adapt from Japan's cold weather to our local hot weather.

Next morning, we woke up and went for their buffet breakfast. We had a slow and relax breakfast, explored the hotel a little before packing up to check out. We decided to go airport early to do more shopping.

Before boarding our final flight home, I just had to have one last taste of holiday. That was ice thai milk tea and mango sticky rice.

my fav in Thailand

We arrived in Singapore around 6pm and had our dinner in the airport before going home. 2017 Japan holiday was a success. Despite our 1st time travelling to Japan and was nervous about on moving around on our own, language barrier and meals, we had a lot of fun, not to forget all the running exercise. We love Japan and we will go back again!

Some last notes to myself.

Lesson learnt :
1) book accommodation that is nearer to the station
2) big room is indeed very useful and comforting
3) self-laundry service is very useful and important
4) book train tickets, coach tickets and flight tickets no earlier than 9am
