a Nightmare on Wedding.. again

This is the 2nd time I had a nightmare on wedding. Am I really that stress about this whole wedding affair? I thought everything is moving quite smoothly for now. It was not as dramatic as the previous nightmare. This round, it was the wedding invites not sent out and it was just 2 hours to the ceremony. And no one decorated the church. The only reason I could think of is that we are looking for a printing company to print the wordings. As for the church decoration, I am mulling over what flowers to use and the colour coordination. I guess this is what people say, 日有所思,夜由锁梦。(amazing! I can type in chinese too!)

Gen X? Gen Y? Gen Z?

Lately, I have been surfing bridal websites to gather ideas for the upcoming celebration. In this popular local forum, there's a section where people posted relationships problem. I took a peep occasionally, in short, I'm just being kaypoh. Most of the times, it was heartbroken wives or girlfriends that wrote in to air their grievances against their unfaithful partners. Then, there will be a group of regular forummers who would input their valuable experiences. While their intentions were good, I do not agree on their harsh tactics in attempt to wake up the foolish parties. Well, this is the cyberspace. There is no accountablility to anyone, probably to your own conscious that you don't end up as a cyber bully. But this is not my point. Recently. there are m0re threads on handling in-laws problems. How can I, the Miss Kaypoh miss it? On this particular day, this topic caught my eyes and turned my usual half opened mini eyes into big round popping raisins. " How do I g

Without Mouse

The mouse died and I have no other mouse to use. Is it possible to use a computer without the mouse? I thought it was quite impossible and then impossible is a strong word to use without even trying. So here I am, typing away without the mouse's assistance. It was tough initially, considered all functions used to be a click away, now, I have to TAB the function. But hey, I managed to surf a site before coming into my blog and typed this to you. In life, we will meet obstacles along our way. Sometimes, by the sheer look at it, we concluded it is impossible. But there are also surprises too. Like now, I'm surprised that I can manage to surf internet and update my blog, without anyone's help. Not even my IT engineer counterpart. However, if I were to just shutdown the PC once I found out the mouse died, I would have never found out that I could use the internet just tabbing the keyboard. It surprised me that how some tasks might seen difficult, to impossible extend, yet was a

a Trip to Miss

Just got back from smiling land - Thailand's Bangkok. But I didn't come back smiling. 1. The sun was so scorching hot! Our hotel, Indra Regent was a distance away from the shopping belt. We needed to walked on foot approximately 15 mins. There was no shelter at one part and the sun just beat it down on me. I came back looking slightly tanned. 2. No longer was Bangkok where you could have a real bargain. We went to the famous Chatuchak weekend market and the items were over priced incredibly. We bargained but it was futile. Most of the time, we walked away empty handed and the sellers made no attempt to recall us back. We : How much is this? (T-shirt, very thin type) Seller : 280 Baht We : 200 Baht Seller: No, cannot. Final price 270 Baht Seller at this point would either raise her voice by now, gave us a black face and then turned away. We walked away and she continued her own chit chat with neighboring stall. And if you think we were too much in slashing the price, wait till y

From the Bottom up

I feel that I had been hit to the rock bottom. My experiments produced no result. Had been so busy the whole week, yet there was no result. Definitely, I felt disheartening. Just when time is so crucial, everything starts to fail on me. First my antibodies degraded and now, my protein degraded. Worse still, I was momentarily trapped in one of the labs just now. The door knob came loose when I wanted to leave. Fortunately for me, I was calm enough to call for help. And lucky for me, the person I have the contact no. was in the center. If not, I would not have known how long it would be before I got rescued. I once had this good friend who gave me this advice - When you feel you are at the rock bottom, it will be good news from then onwards. Because you cannot go any further downwards. So with a reminder of this advice, I packed up for the day and decided to head home. When I reached the main gate, someone offered me a ride out. We do not know each other neither have we seen each other,

What's the big deal?

I have also been wanting to blog about this issue. Ever wonder why "I " must also be in capital letter, even when it is not the first word of a sentence? Doesn't this emphasize the self- centered human nature where "I" always come first? You may say that the capital letter "I" is to reflect self-respect just like how names are always spelled with capital letter for the 1st alphabet. But if that is the case, won't it be over doing? Why is "you" not having the same emphasis? Don't we want to show our respect equally to the one we are communicating to? Food for thought. Ponder on it.

Before anything happens

I got my medical report back today. Had gone for an annual medical checkup, sponsored by my company. This year, I added the cholesterol test. Oh man! Guess what happened. My cholesterol level is on the high side!!! Can't believe it?! I also couldn't. But as the doctor listed out all the food that will cause the cholesterol level to increase, guilty face shown up. For the past year, I really had over indulge on myself. All the fast food, the seafood, the shell fish, the diary products, the fried food. To think I want to find the best Cha Kwey Tiao. Before I can find it, I cannot eat it. Life is tough when there is a restriction on my diet. Oh man :(

Faux Pas

Not sure if you have read yesterday's Straits Times. There was a report on national paddler, Li Jiawei on her upcoming nuptials. It was said that she is currently busy preparing her April 25 Beijing Wedding and will miss 2 major tournaments as a result. It went on with a short interview on her family planning and the news report continued from the main page to page A4. In page A4, the news report continued with her family planning but that's not my main point. In the same page, there was this big photo of her in one of her wedding gowns. Below the photo, there was this caption saying about her in this novel pants bottom wedding gown with a Greek theme. Photo source from Whitelink. I was scrutinizing her photo and then something caught me eyes. In the photo, underneath her right shoe, someone forgot to peel off the price tag label. Oh gosh! Faux pas! What a big fashion mistake! Totally so unglamourous! I was even more surprised that the bridal company Whitelink did not even bo

Last Sunday, we went to Chinatown for one main purpose. To exchange Thai baht for our trip. In return, we got more than we expected for. We had a late lunch at the People's Park Hawker Center. This hawker center is not to be confused with the newly renovated Chinatown market or the Hong Lim food center nearby. If you take the train and alight at Chinatown station, head for the People's Park (near OG) exit. You will see the hawker centre once you come up from the escalator. Why the special mention of this hawker centre? Because in a "crouching tiger, hidden dragon" style, we discovered the best Yong Tau Foo. It was a pity that I forgot my camera. I had to make do with my 2 mega pixels camera phone. See that long stretch of queue?! These people were patiently queuing for their Yong Tau Foo. In order to find out how special and how good is the Yong Tau Foo, we joined in the queue. And it was worth waiting for. Don't look down on this small bowl of Yong Tau Foo. The s

Don't be rude

It has been quite a few weeks since we washed the car. So seeing today's such a good weather, we gave the car a thorough wash and wax. We were at the washing bay over at the MSCP. As there are only 2 lots in the washing bay and a lorry parked itself in the middle, we decided to shift to the handicap lot (besides the washing bay) to do the washing. We were just minding our own business when suddenly the car owner besides us came angrily and gave us a hard stare. He walked with a clutch and he was grumbling quite loudly how we shouldn't wash our car in a handicap lot. Then he opened his back car door and threw his clutch back in and walked to the driver's seat. Then he drove off. Although there was no direct confrontation, I was indignant by his attitude. 1. There are only 2 lots in the washing bay. Do you really wait till both vehicles drive off before you start washing? Obviously, people don't wait. They go to the next nearest lots which happened to be for the handicap

The "S" Word

Recently, NTU was in the headlines for not-so- good reasons. First was a student that stabbed the lecturer and then fell to his own death. Then yesterday, a staff hanged himself. Apparently, both incidents happened to the same faculty and from the same lab. What was going on in this faculty? In the lab? What about the lecturer? Many have speculated that STRESS was the main killer. I actually won't dispute that. STRESS, seems so common but how well do we actually know about this silent killer? Everyday, we bound to hear someone lamenting " oh I'm so stresss.." But is it a real STRESS stress or a remark for lamenting? When I was much younger, I remembered myself preparing for my chemistry paper. I remembered how the period, particularly the day before, I was so worried, so anxious that I couldn't do anything else but hug my chemistry book. I thought I am going to suffer a nervous breakdown soon. In the end, what probably saved me from going berserk was that I snappe

Hais... after so much hype about his upcoming birthday, it didn't went well. Trouble maker is ... *drum rolls* ... yours truly. He already knew where we were heading to for his birthday dinner when I mentioned Holland Village. Yup, we went to Foster (English Rose) for dinner. I heard Foster serves quite good dinner but things were quite different when we were there. Starting with the ambience. Tea light, dim orange lighting. Sounded cosy? Sofa chairs and wooden tables. Sounded romantic? Settings were okay if not the waitresses and waiters were busy snacking at the bar counter. When we first arrived, the chefs in the kitchen were talking loudly in hokkien. Perhaps we went early for dinner or perhaps times were bad, business was not as brisk as before. In any case, the start was quite mood dampening. Plus Darren didn't turn up with the theme, unless you considered Polo is a British game. He came with the Polo Ralph tee I got him last year. Sigh! the same as he had worn last year

My Favourite Pastime

Drinking teh-c is my favourite pastime. I like it in the morning, in the afternoon or in the evening. Teh-C is tea with carnation milk and not condensed milk. It is less sweet in this way. I like winding down the day with a cuppa good teh-c, although I have not had a favourite stall yet. However, recently I found out that having too much teh-c can make you turn like this... Same colour as teh-c... haha
