Maidless June Part 2

Image
It is almost coming to the end of a month and can't believe that we could actually survive without a maid to help us. With a maid, it is certainly very convenient. Without one, everything is on our own and it does build up tension sometimes especially when I get hot and sweaty, my mood turns fiery. But this month without the maid and an overseas vacation highlighted a few points. 1. It is hard for me to teach the boys because I am so consumed by the number of housework chores I need to complete. Hence, if I'm going to be a SAHM, a part time cleaner is required so I don't get myself stuck with the endless houseworks and in the end, don't spend enough time with the boys. 2. I need to build a strong mummy support network. Yesterday I brought Matthew to Polliwog @ Vivocity. It was Matt's 3rd time to an indoor playground. I realised that he didn't know what to do, unlike my friend's son (same age as Matt). He was much mo...

Family Vacation - Manila & Boracay *Edited*

Image
Since the maid is on a month's long home leave, we decided to use this opportunity to go for a family vacation. Coincidentally, my best buddy from Manila invited us to Boracay with them. The timing couldn't be any better! So we set forth on the 10 June and only returned last Sunday night. Day 1 - 10 June 2014 that's us @ Changi Airport the plane we were going to board We took an afternoon flight, hoping that the 2 boys would fall asleep on the way there. Fat hope! Both only fell asleep almost at the last leg of the journey. While Jonathan enjoyed the flight, Matt was a different story. He fussed and cried very badly and absolutely hated the seat belt. Worst was that his diaper overflowed and I couldn't change him in time, so he peed on me. Best buddy and hubby came to pick us up but traffic was bad. So in the midst of the car ride, Jon wanted his milk and boy, he kicked up another big fuss. What a start for our vacation. Finally we reached ...

Maidless June Part 1.

And with that, our maid less June has started since 1st June. She will be gone for a month and I know what's the next 2 questions that will follow. Qn 1 : How come she is on a month long home leave? Not 2 weeks? Ans : Out of good will. She has been with us for almost 2 years. She has 3 young sons herself and with the youngest being around Jonathan's age. So I could understand her longing to stay with them longer before coming back again. Qn 2 : Then how? You take one month's leave? Who look after Matthew? Ans : How to take one month's leave?! I work alternate days and that already wiped out 90% of my AL. Those days I need to work, my mum helps me with Matt. So how's life now? 2 words - Super Busy. I am literally consumed by the housework I need to do and the 1st day of SAHM, I was flat out by 6pm. 2nd day as SAHM, I was teaching the boys with my eyes half closed at 9pm. But I still enjoyed my time at home, although when I got back to office, I ha...

A Rainbow?

Image
Swee Heng's Rainbow Cake I have been looking at rainbow cake and wondered how it would taste like. Although I highly suspected it's a cake with lots of colourings, I still got myself a small box of the rainbow cake from Swee Heng. The rainbow colours lifted up my mood but the taste is like any ordinary cake. Oh well!

It's Just Another Day….

Image
17 May 2014 There is one thing that as a person ages, he/ she is less inclined to do… that is to celebrate his/ her birthday. On this special day or should I say it's just another day… there was nothing much for me to rejoice. No plan was made, literally. I was not disappointed by this but rather the attitude of my other half. I shall not elaborate on that. It was just another food day. Stepped into Da Paolo's Gastronomia @ Holland Village and ordered some bites to chase away my blues. funghi aglio olio cappucino funghi pizza garden greens tiramisu The next day was much better. We brought the boys to TCC @ Keppel Bay and Jonathan was delighted by the sight of yacht and sailing boats. I was surprised by the size of TCC over there and it was a good thing we had reservation. It was packed by the time we left.  I always love TCC and over at Keppel Bay TCC, it had another type of menu and kid's menu included. I w...

For now….

Today I went through what I would call a preview of P1 registration… the uncertainty, the anxiety, the doubt and the relief. To cut the long story short, we have been searching for alternatives ever since Mindchamps "rejected" Matthew and then hubby talked to the operation manager and she offered us another option of deferment to next year. Before all these happened, we looked at several childcare centres and even church kindergartens. For childcare centres, we couldn't find anything we like. Learning Vision came close but we changed our mind at the 3rd visit to the centre. Church kindergartens were popular and by the time we decided to look into it, most of the registration was over. As I put it, if God is willing, He will open a door for Matthew… and we came to know about Clementi Woods Kindergarten. Pleasantly surprised that we were still in time for the registration and we booked ourselves a school tour last Friday. Before that, I sent hubby to find out if ther...

Madness April

Image
April has been a horrible month… and we are pretty shacked by now. Matthew went for his first dose of MMR last Monday and despite all the cooling precautions taken, the MMR fever kicked in at Day 5. Now in his 2nd day of fever, his highest was 39.4 and the crucial 48 hours are almost gone which meant that he would unlikely develop a fit. Now at 16 month old, Matthew could understand a lot of instructions and the concept of time. He would point to the clock at specific timing if a routine is not performed then. His reflex was also quick as proven by the needle scratch on his MMR jab. This little boy not only cried out in pain when the PD jabbed him, he proceeded to snatch the needle when Dr Yip was retracting the needle. Totally stunned everyone in the room. We also decided not to send him to a full day CC and to a suitable 3hour nursery program instead. For a start, he will be joining Jonathan on Saturday Heguru program. My firstborn, Jonathan is just 4 mon...
