Trial Class @ Abrakadoodle

Image
We brought the boys for a trial class at Abrakadoodle (Jurong) this evening. The boys were assigned to the mini doodlers class which was non-parent accompanied. There was a party ongoing at the outlet when we were there so it looked a little chaotic. We went into the class with the boys to get them settle and Matthew started to wail when we had to go, on the advice of the teachers. They would rather the child cry at the beginning and get used to be in a drop-off class, than to have the parents hanging in the class to prolong the separation anxiety. I wasn't too sure if the insistence would do good for Matthew but I didn't have another option. So we went to the nearby coffee shop for a drink and returned 15minutes before lesson ended. Presenting their work The class was designed to have a gallery session such that each child would talk about their art work and the teacher would guide them along in describing their art work. I was pleasantly surprised by the boys&#

6 month Review

It is almost the end of June and it has already been 178 days gone in 2015. I thought it would be good to do a review on the study plan I drafted earlier this year. Except for the Heguru worksheet which was the most consistent, we didn't manage to work out with the rest of the plan. Berries revision was next most frequent attempted though it was not on daily basis. For the rest, we didn't do much. Like Maths, I did the addition and subtraction concept recently with the abacus from Ikea. I didn't have much luck with the Dot bar program. Jonathan is still learning to spell his name and it is fair he should have more time to learn since his name was long to begin with. I'm starting to get him write down his name on the Heguru worksheet by tracing over mine. As for Matthew, except for doing the Heguru worksheet, I haven't been really doing much with him. So I decided to re-draw a study plan. Heguru worksheet is here to stay. Instead of doing Ber

My Lil Prince Charming

We were supposed to go Church and we thought we would attempt to leave the boys at the Sunday School themselves. However, we ran late and we ended up having brunch at Bukit Timah Hawker Centre. Then we thought we would drive to the Bukit Timah Saddle Club to let the boys exhaust their energy so they would nap early and we could get things done. The maid is on her monthly off day, you see. The boys were excited and the father signed them up for pony riding. It was a long wait and I was most surprised that the two actually waited quite patiently with us. There were almost 10 over children before us and we reckoned each ride was about 5 mins. So we waited and strolled along the BTSC premises. It was a good thing they brought out a 2nd horse, not a pony though. Finally it's Jonathan's turn and he gamely agreed to ride on Heidi -the brown horse which was much bigger and taller than Rosie -the white pony. riding high and tall All smiles! looking confident

Congratulation (to myself)!

During pregnancy, there could be some weird happenings and changes. Uh-huh… before anyone jumps to the conclusion I'm joining the SG50 baby wagon, you got it all wrong! The weird change I am about to explain indeed happened during my pregnancies and after almost close to 4 years, I'm reverted to norm. You see, when I was pregnant with Jonathan, I suddenly lost the appreciation of durian. It was an awful smell to me and I thought I would be "okay" after delivering Jon, after all I was a durian fan. Yet, it did not happened and it got worse during Matthew's time. As strange as it began, this offensive smell suddenly turned a 360 degree change yesterday. Suddenly I could smell the aromatic fragrance of a D24 and I could taste once again the creamy, bittersweet flesh that I once loved so much. it finally came home! Besides myself revelled at the reunion with the king of fruits, the next most happy got to be the hub. He bought back durians which we devou

Preschool Journey - Leg 2

Image
Matt started a new preschool journey on the 2 June. I applied a 3-day leave for this purpose, to settle him in his new class. Day 1 went relatively well as it was only a half day. He koala me as expected and didn't want to do anything. Hub and Principal suggested that I left him alone so he would join in the class activities. So I made an excuse about going to wash room. He didn't cry and I picked him up after his lunch. grouchy on his way home Summary of Day 1 - I only sat in the class with him for an hour and thereafter he was on his own. His class wasn't big and his classmates were pretty advanced with speech and toilet-trained. No formal english teacher yet so the Principal - Ms. Stacie took over the role (for almost 6 months already). Chinese teacher was on holiday so asst. teacher came over to help. Asst. teacher was not the smiley type but she did her job properly. I asked about the chinese lesson and the reply was during school holiday, the preschool

Randomness...

gerbera This week, the hubby surprised me with a stalk of Gerberas, it came in the mineral water bottle as photographed here. I laughed it off, probably I shouldn't. After all, the man still bothered to give me this kind of random surprise. As time passed by, I realised we could get into argument easily. There are more things we don't agree than agree. This would be our 6th Wedding Anniversary to come in November and it was certainly not a journey to be taken granted off. We tried in our midst of busy-ness with the boys and our works and our whatever commitments to spend a little time together. It could be a movie night, a trip to NTUC by ourselves, weekly marketing or a tea-break whenever, wherever we could. It helps bit by bit to replace the sore aching pain with love, which we spoke harshly in the heat of moment. Perhaps it helps too, that we could worship together (will blog about the new Church experience in another day). Though one may be overpowered, two can

He earned it!

Remember I shared about this saving plan of Jonathan in bid to get him off diaper at home? He did it! Yes.. he kept his word and strived hard to achieve all the stickers. the completed saving plan I couldn't be prouder for him and his achievement. He actually managed to get all stickers before end May but there was a delay in the toy car shipment and he had to wait for another 2 weeks before he could actually sit on his silver car. the silver car This plan worked because I caught him in the right timing and he had an option. He made this decision himself and his desire for his own toy car motivated him greatly. He learnt to wait patiently and learnt to count (addition and subtraction from the required sum) and most of all, he learnt that if he sets his heart to it, nothing stands in his way. the stock up Now that he is fully accustomed to wearing his undies during the day, I have been influencing him that he should aim for a "toilet bowl poop&quo

June's a Surprise!

7 years ago, when the hub proposed to me on my birthday, we went to The Line to celebrate the special occasion. This year I was too caught up in my work to enjoy a treat from him during my birthday month. Hence, seizing the opportunity that Matt was starting a new preschool and I had to take leaves to settle him, we went back to The Line today. 7 years ago…  7 years later… today Things haven't changed a bit at The Line. They still have the best cold starter selection and a delectable dessert table. I think there is no need to introduce The Line as it is pretty well known for its wide range of food choice. However for a weekday buffet lunch, perhaps this could be the only place that offer oysters. Yes, that's right. The Line offers succulent oysters as part of their buffet lineup even for weekday lunch, alongside with mussels, white shell clams, prawns, crabs and baby lobsters. Hmm.. a special mention on the baby lobsters or crayfish. It was so tiny that it
