We have waited for 3 years to be able to really celebrate Jon's birthday. For the past 2 birthdays, the poor boy had fallen sick on his actual birthday and there was no mood to be merry. So it was very dear and precious to us that our firstborn could enjoy his birthday as much as he liked!
His birthday morning started with his revelation of a shiny bicycle as his birthday present.

happy with his surprise gift |
Jon was thrilled he has a bicycle of his own. He went round the house with his father's help before we brought the boys out for breakfast at West Coast Park.

For some unknown reasons, Jon started insisting on tying his hair up! Yes, he has been bugging me to tie his hair and on that morning, he went to the park with his new hair-do! Luckily I managed to persuade him that he was cute enough and needed not do anything to his hair!
We spent a happy but tiring morning, teaching him to cycle and letting the boys run around in the park. Great that Mr Sun did not come out in full force, his 50% presence was a relief to me.
While the boys napped in the afternoon, the preparation for the home celebration began.

For the home celebration, we got the rich chocolate cake from Charlotte Grace bakery. We were very pleased with the cake and definitely going back for more. Everything that I had wanted was carefully crafted and designed into the lovely. Really worth each and every penny!

I also placed a balloon order from this old shop at Holland Village and was surprised they offered tiger/ animal print latest balloons. Perfect for the theme!

simple decor |
We filled the living area with recycling the birthday bunting from Matt's birthday plus 2 helium filled foil birthday balloons together with the animal print latest balloons. Party food included Ikea's chicken wings, pizza from anchorpoint, Sakuraya maki sushi and starters, satays, subways' salads and 2 noodle dishes from our downstairs zi char.

The guests started to stream in around 5.30pm. It was a celebration with our immediate family members and the kids enjoyed themselves pretty much.

The colour of the candles - pink was chosen by Jon himself. It was placed on the cake by his cousin, Ariel.

having fun even after the party was over |
The party came to an end at 8pm as the kids still had school the next day. Even after the party was over, the 2 brothers still had plenty of fun among themselves. As for us, we were glad the children loved the party although there was a lot of cleaning to be done after that.
Now that we are done with Jon's birthday… we still have another one to plan at year end. Hope it would be equally exciting for Matt!
