Preschool Selection #1 - MindChamps
Some thing just got to start. Jonathan would have to attend childcare once he hits 18 months. With a lot of bad publicity on childcare centres (ie mistreated kids, HFMD etc), we wanted to take our time and really source for a good preschool for Jonathan. So we took the opportunity to tour around MindChamps @ Fusionopolis since today was their Welcome Day.
Jonathan's cousin is attending MindChamps and that's how we got to know them. Chanced upon their Fusionopolis branch when my lab mates had a lunch gathering at one of the Korean restaurants.
Their curriculum and facility - there is no question about it. I like their way of exposing kids to different areas, in academic, artistic and musical sense. By keeping their class size small, it also ensure all kiddos got adequate attention from their teachers.
Positive points about MindChamps
1. Honest answers - staff attrition rate, limitation to nature exposure since they are housed in a mall.
2. Clean facility
3. No pressure in signing on. The principal upon learning that theirs was the first school we visited, advised us to look around for another 2 more schools to compare. She even invited us to come back during a weekday so we could really see all the talks in action.
The minus points
1. No natural ventilation. Is in a mall, centralised aircon
2. No outdoor play area. No nature exposure.
3. Expensive preschool education.
