All for Lor Mee?
Darren loves Lor Mee, especially Tiong Bahru Lor Mee. He thought he found the right authentic Lor Mee after the hawker centre upgraded. And so he thought it was 178 Lor Mee. I even made a post on this 178 Lor Mee back in 2009.
So when Mediacorp's show "Timeless Treats" featured this authentic Lor Mee, we felt that we should go and try it.
This morning, we supposedly went for 8.30am Church service so that we could go try this authentic Tiong Bahru Lor Mee.
We reached Bukit Purmei Blk 109 at 10.40am. The queue to the Lor Mee stretched all the way to the back of the Kopitiam. Almost everyone seated at the Kopitiam was there for the Lor Mee.
Darren queued for an hour, before he came back with our Lor Mee.
Something happened at this instant that made me forget to snap a picture of the Lor Mee. So I have to rely on internet's search for this Lor Mee images.
Okay... back to "something happened".
That something was a near-fight between an old uncle and an old auntie. Apparently, the old auntie did not ask if she could take the chair from the table that old uncle was sitting. What followed next was a shouting match and a threat to pour hot kopi-O on each other. Then their families came over to help and another family was caught in the middle of this fight. Luckily, the peacemaker family managed to calm both sides down otherwise, I would not know how am I going to savour my Lor Mee.
Now, back to the Lor Mee. What made it different from others was the crispy fried dough that the stall owner added in. Plus a small bowl at $2.50, it came with a lot of ingredients. Overall, the Lor Mee was flavorsome.
Lor Mee can be found at Blk 109, Bukit Purmei Road. I noted that there are 3 bus services (275, 131 and 123) that go there and bus stop is right in front of the kopitiam.
