Marriot Cafe - the Food

Image
The main purpose of having a buffet is so that we can have fresh oysters. The 1st thing that we went for was the oysters no doubt. I liked them with a tinge of lemon juice, fresh from the ocean feeling. After getting my fix on the oysters, I started to try their other appetizers. A corn beef with pepper and chilli in canape-style Assorted sushi, anyone? Marinated pasta with chicken. Spicy White Clam Salmon Sashimi Smoked Salmon Korea Ginseng Chicken Soup Herbal Drunken Prawn Very concentrated soup base and very fresh prawns I skipped their main courses because the desserts just looked so inviting. Assorted fruit mousse in cups More choices There was this very yummy dark chocolate mousse coated with egg white paste on the top. It really caught me by surprise how yummy this dessert turned out to be. Have a darjeeling - said to be the champagne of all tea. Mixed in with honey... lovely Else, have a glass of cranberry juice. I was so bowled by the desserts they offered and the variet

This is a post dated entry of our buffet lunch experience @ Marriot Hotel's Marriot Cafe, complimentary from Mr Darren's company. We woke up late last Saturday, skipped our breakfast and zoomed right into Marriot Hotel, waiting for that fanstatic lunch. Lunch buffet started from 12 pm to 2.30pm and of course, we stayed right from the beginning to the end. The Salad and Started counter served a wide variety of choices. From the traditional green to your own DIY caesar salad, from the pasta salad to the canapes, you would be spoiled for choices. Then there's the cold starters with fresh oysters (Yummy!!) and prawns, completed with all kinds of condiments as you liked. Some may not like the greens or the seafood. Don't worry, you can start with the cold cut. Ham, cheese, smoked salmon and even salmon sashimi. A whole row of hot entrees awaited you. My Favourite corner, the Dessert bar. So many cakes and pastries and even the traditional chinese Chin Chow and sea coconut,

Back to the 80s

Retro night 80s was the theme for my company D&D which happened last Friday. Our lab was determined to score as the Best Dressed Table so we put on best impersonation and let go of all our inhibitions. Check out my retro hair.... spiking high comb back fringe, completed with those big earrings. Not to forget my trademark airbrush tattoo ... the Mouse. Left : Me, Alicia, Si Yin, Doris, WK, Hsiao Ying, Tracey, FLY, Janet & Emily (Best Dressed Girl!) And we did not failed. We won the Best Dressed Table and Best Dressed Girl was from our table too! It was truly a night to remember with those wild looks!

Honeymoon Dessert

Image
I had been to Honeymoon Dessert @ Vivocity for a few times but it was not because I am a fan of them. Rather I am a fan of dessert. The previous times that I had been there, I didn't think too much of Honeymoon Dessert. On this particular visit which was a week ago, I finally discovered what's good from their store. Mr Darren ordered this watermelon dessert which was refreshing. It was not too sweet but it didn't give me a deep impression. It was this mango pudding that really made me happy. Mango pudding served with a small jug of carnation milk. This is the same milk that you put in your teh or kopi to make it the teh-si or kopi- si . I was surprised that it was packed with chucky mangoes too.... Yes, I really enjoyed this mango pudding and this will be the dessert that I will put it in my favourite list for a long time. photos powered by iphone 4

Indulgence

The reason why I am putting on weight. Over indulgence on my sweet tooth.

BBT

Image
For those trying to start a family, would have come across acronyms such as BBT, OPK in the TTC community. For a start BBT is the body basal temperature measured immediately after you are awake to detect ovulation period. However, I am talking about another type of BBT here..... nothing to do with babies but got to do with adults. This is the Battle of the Bubble Tea (BBT) ! Ever since the Taiwanese invented the bubble tea, the bubble hasn't really burst. In fact, I could see the bubble floating higher than before with 2 new chains in the market. Contestant #1 - Gong Cha To be honest, I didn't know what Gong Cha is about until on Sunday, Ms Angeline took me to the latest outlet at Raffles City. There wasn't much on the menu but I had to admit that their choice of tea was quite unique. I placed an order of Milk Earl Grey but I didn't know that I had to order the sago pearls separately. Earl Grey with Milk ~ 50% sugar From queueing to place the order and waiting for my o

Do you know that Pornsak, the TCS artiste has opened a Thai restaurant in Liang Seah Street? The family went to check it out last Saturday. Business is really good. Reservation is fully booked until December. We walked in around 6.15pm and only managed to get a table for 8 adults and 2 children 1 hour later. And it was only because little sister-in-law happened to be Pornsak's schoolmate. After we were settled down, I looked around the restaurant. It is not very big, neither it is heavily decorated. There are only 2 wall murals on its pristine white walls. Elephants and Thailand. Erh... the word PORN for Thai is completely different from its English Counterpart. Menu is a ribbon tied laminated 6 pages. Pricing is reasonable, not expensive but beware, the food is extremely spicy, well at least for me. First up, Tom Yum Goong in hotpot. Very spicy. Caught me totally off guard, I was gagging on its spicy. Actually my dinner was kinda ruined by it. My stomach was burning after this. Ac

When I'm at home

Image
I just can't seem to rest. Really just idle around. Nope. I spend my time, putting things to wash eg. my soft toys and then putting them into dryer. Or I spend my time, feeding my hamster non-stop. I guess that's why Robo is putting on weight these few days while I'm home. I think he is happy too to have me at home... for an obvious reason. Haha....

Many Planning Needed

Oh gosh! Times flies very quickly. We are approaching our 1st Year Wedding Anniversary. We have thought of a few plans but nothing is confirmed at this moment. Option 1 - Go Hong Kong for 5D4 N during week 2 of November before the man starts his new job. But traveling at year end means that expenses are high. A trip like that would set us back almost 1k per pax. So if you think of it, topping up a couple of 100 bucks more in Jan, you get to travel longer and farther. Option 2 - Go Bali. I haven't research much on Bali especially traveling in Nov. Would it be the monsoon season? Would it be a inconvenient time for me to travel? Should I even take leaves since I already have been absent from work because of sprained left foot? And also, a couple of medical checkup would require me to stay away from work in these 2 months. Option 3 - Do a weekend indulgence at local hotel. Stay for 2 nights during our anniversary date. But what do we do then? Where shall we go? Posh restaurant? Fine d

Praising God

This is really a difficult and trying period. Challenges keep swimming to my face. Even a small task such as getting down from a height, landed me with a bandage left foot. It seemed that I had pull a tendon on Friday when I was getting down from the Doc's examining bed. Perhaps I landed on my wrong foot or I landed on the wrong angle. There was a sharp pain but I ignored it. Then on Sat night, I thought I would self medicate with the Tiger Balm and rubbed my sore ankle. By Sunday morning, I was limping my way to Church and finally sought professional help in the afternoon. The chinese sinseh rubbed away the bruise. Of course, it pained a lot. Slapped her cooling ointment on my ankle and bandaged my foot. A small pull at the tendon caused quite a serious inflammation. No wonder my left ankle swelled and pained to touch. So here I am, in my bandaged left foot for 4 days. Hmm... then what does my left foot got to do with praising God? After the service, I usually would chit chat wi

Chest Pain and Beyond

It has been a really difficult period for me, in my work and also in my private life. When I first started blogging, I just wanted an outlet for me to write without any inhibition on any issue that I feel strongly. But I guess that I made a mistake in the beginning by posting my blog link in my Facebook account. It invited readers, however being a passive Facebook account holder, I didn't bothered to change my settings to tighten up on the privacy issue. So you can guess, not only my friends know about this link but also friends of friends, secondary layer, tertiary layer and way beyond. I didn't think of this too much since I was not writing fictitious stuff or slandering post. But I forgot that some entries were sensitive because it involved 2nd party, 3rd party and so on. And trouble first started because of someone I didn't even know spread tales that causes strain on relationship. Now, I am more wary on what I am reflecting, especially on private life issues. So now, w

Pizza Hut ... from the iPhone

Image
Last Sunday after Church service, I had this request to have pizza. It had been a very long time, probably as long as years not stepping into any pizza outlet to dine in. We decided to go over to Marina Square's Pizza Hut. I didn't have any high hope then I would get to eat a real good pizza, I would be satisfied so long my stomach was filled. Surprisingly, it was still crowded at 2pm. Decision was made quickly. We ordered a Hut Platter because we were really hungry. Hut Platter ($12) comes with 4 drumlets in sweet spicy marinate, 4 criss-cross potatoes, 4 fried vietnamese style spring rolls and 4 calamari rings. It was served with only chilli sauce so we had to ask for tar tar sauce and tomato sauce ourselves. The frying was done with old oil, so you could taste the oil bits but when you were hungry, everything was gone. When we were about half way done with our starters, our Chic delight pizza was served. Regular 10" Chic Delight (~$16) comes with only thin crust. The in
