Party of 3
A party of 3 - Darren, his mum and myself. We headed to West Coast Plaza for Dian Xiao Er but was packed due to Mother's Day. So we settled at a chinese restaurant "Tian Wang" at level 1.
Since it was Mother's Day, they offered ala carte and set menu. We picked the set menu for 4 pax at $68++ and these were what we got.
Shredded crabmeat with mushroom soup. The bowl caught our eyes, shaped like an indigo, we
were quite fascinated by it. But then, I guess we were just too hungry and finished this soup in a record time < 5mins
Their signature dish - Emperor Chicken. Well, it really looked like this dish is from ancient China. The colour of the chicken skin is exactly what we would have seen from those periodic kungfu drama serial.
Like the samsui chicken from soup restaurant
you got to eat this Emperor chicken with their special garlic sauce.
After this hibernate period, the next few dishes came up swiftly.
Actually I was disappointed to see their veggie portion. I really don't think this is the portion for 4 pax lor.
Their steamed fish saved the day. Fresh and tender, though we could taste the "mud" from the fish. I guess is a child's play to guess correctly that this fish is reared in freshwater and not from the sea.
I guess the staff in this restaurant cooked the same dishes together. 'Cos after this, we got to wait again... time to hibernate...
Then something happened, they served us Ma Po Toufu. We clarified with the staff since it was not included in the set menu. Oh well, since the staff insisted she got it right... so why made it wrong? ;p
By then, our Ee Fu noodles was served and I felt that I had just been through a chinese wedding banquet.
Last but not least, we want to welcome Mr Dessert...
Black Sesame Cream .... okay... this portion was overwhelming. It's the same indigo bowl that was filled to the brim with the dessert. We gave up and was asking for the bill when 2nd surprise came in...
Free carrot cake! Wow... not a bad deal. Enjoyed a miniature chinese wedding banquet and get free Ma Po toufu and carrot cake... where to find lah...

Footnote : Service was very bad on that day. Most of our time was spent waiting for the dishes to be served. Even for our drinks. we had to wait like almost 15 mins before anyone got us our chinese tea. What was commendable - the manager apologized for their substandard service and thanked us for our patience. Customer service - thumbs up!
