Taiwan Day 8 - 2018 再见!

We woke up and ate up whatever we bought and had leftover as breakfast. Then it was another round of madness getting everyone ready. It was an afternoon flight but as usual, we are always running behind time.

Finally we got to the airport, in time for check in. The original driver had asked his driver friend to send us there. Talked about after-sales service.

2 big, 2 medium, 1 small and 1 carton home

all from us

The check-in queue was rather long and we wasted a fair bit of time here. Then we had to get some lunch for the boys, so another fair bit of time used. In the end, I didn't have time to shop at their duty-free and it was time for boarding.

Thankfully the boys napped on the flight back, so it was peace time again.

If I were to sum up this whole trip, I learnt a few more new lessons about us travelling as family and the boys themselves.

1. Cold weather, cool weather and please no hot and humid weather. The hot weather really had some impact on our mood and fun level and Jonathan specifically asked for cold weather if we travel again.

2. Food and timing. Most of the time, they got cranky because they hadn't had a proper meal and was tired from the walking. I thought we had spaced out enough, but I think they still couldn't cope without a proper afternoon nap and lunch at the timing they are used to.

3. Space and more space. We just need the space and a lot of it. We were very comfortable with the spacious room at Flying Cow Ranch and at Taipei's minsu. But no more loft concept, because the boys would tear down the whole house with their constant running up and down the stairs. We need the space so the boys could have an area to themselves for their drawing, scribbling and colouring. It helped a lot when the adults need to pack and unpack.

4. It was the first time I had to do laundry as we moved along. The good thing was we had a private transport so I could lay the half dried clothing on top of our luggages so the clothes were ready for next wear. Since I had gain experience in doing speedy laundry, I would think our following trips, I could pack lesser clothing or maybe not.

5. Flight time must coincided with their nap time for peace and quiet. Anti-vomit medicine is very useful to combat the motion sickness and air pressure discomfort.

Although the boys bickered a lot this trip, we have already made plans for our 2017 and 2018 family vacation. We are excited to experience Autumn Japan in 2017 and a Winter Taiwan again in 2018. I just hope by then, the boys would be more matured in their behaviour.
