Hi 5 - Jonathan!
August was an exciting month for someone. He has requested a birthday staycation at his favourite building. Can you make a guess?
Jonathan turned 5 last month and at the tender age of 4+, he had developed a keen interest in tall buildings and skyscrapers. It was no surprise that Marina Bay Sands (MBS) caught his eye. For a year, he did crafts with this iconic building as theme. For example, he would draw many pictures of MBS and he would build MBS with his megablocks, complete with the curving structure.
MBS |
He likes MBS so much that he wanted a birthday cake with MBS theme. I had a hard time finding a baker who could do a MBS cake. In the end, it was baked with photo insert.
Cloud9 & their bake |
So the brothers celebrated the birthday in school with this MBS cake which Jonathan said he was very happy and the cake was very yummy.
Happy Birthday! |
Prior to school celebration, we held a small celebration in Church with his Sunday School's friends. Lucky boy had a Finding Dory cake for that day.
The 1st celebration |
He got his 3rd cake when we did another round of candles blowing and birthday song. How fortunate is he!
All Choc Cake |
So all in all, birthday boy had 3 cakes as part of his birthday celebration and his grandma didn't forget his lunar birthday. She cooked mee sua for him.
Lunar Birthday |
However the best is yet to be. Grand finale of his birthday which was also the biggest birthday gift from us, was a 3D2N birthday staycation at MBS. Can you imagine his excitement? The staycation was not cheap at $700+ and it was already at a discounted rate through friend's recommendation.
It was also obvious Jonathan did his homework and decided that city view was better than having garden's view. I had to admit this boy was really good with things concerning MBS. City view premier room was indeed splendid.
Against the Singapore River |
With a room at 25th floor, we could see the city skyline and the racing course of F1 at night.
Spacious Room |
the kind of bathroom i like |
separate shower and toilet |
The room was spacious and luxurious. You don't even have to manually pull the curtains. Press a button and it would close up or open up for you. Mini-bar was lined with sensors, any item removed would be charged to the room bill immediately so we had to ask them to remove some of the items so we could keep their medicine. Yes, we always bring along medication for emergency.
Daytime view from our room |
MBS is also strict on guests entering their roof top infinity pool and the observation deck. Each guest must use their own room key to enter or exit the turnstile. Even children were issued with their own room keys.
Night view from level 57 |
We spent most of the time in the room because firstly, we were too lazy to walk out to do anything. Secondly, the children brought their toys along so they just wanted to hole up in the room to play. It suited me very well because I got to watch TV as much as I like. The husband? He took up the responsibility to venture out and brought dinner back for us.
So comfy |
We spend our mornings at the infinity pool which was really cool and nice. The boys enjoyed the pool time a lot. At night, we went up to the level 57 which also housed the sky observation deck to enjoy the night view. I have to say, MBS birthday staycation was one of the best staycation we had. It was a true relax and do nothing getaway.
saying Hi from Level 57 infinity pool |
Will we go back again? Probably not. One experience is enough to last for a lifetime. Besides $700+ could be put to better use.
