Pit Stop @ Munich
After working intensively for 2 weeks away from work, me and my colleague made a pit stop at Munich for some sun, sightseeing, food and shopping before going home. We had only 2 days which we really packed it to the brim.
Arrived Munich in the early morning and we took the subway to our hotel. While I had figured out which station we should alight, I didn't had a map on hand to get to our hotel. Ended up we took the wrong route and walked a big round. Even then, we met really kind people on the street that helped us so much in getting to our hotel.
Drei Löwen |
Booked our stay at Drei Lowen through Trivago website. It was stated to be a 4* hotel with free wifi, air condition and near to train station.

We were pleasantly surprised that the Germans speak good English and we absolutely had no communication with them.
For the pricing we paid, less than Euro $200 per night, it was a non-frill but clean hotel.
We wasted no time in exploring Munich, making our way down to Marienplatz.
Glockenspiel @ Neue Rathaus (New City Hall) |
Part of Neus Rathaus |
I guess I had gotten the timing because we didn't manage to catch the chimes and bells display.
(Post note: I thought it was 1pm in summer. Upon checking, it was actually 12pm and 5pm on summer. 11am on other days.)
But we did quite a bit of shopping. Gotten most of the items on our wish list.
1st shopping loot @ Marienplatz |
We also managed to make our day trip booking to the royal castles which was happening on the next day. After dropping our shopping bags, we headed out to the museums nearby. Unfortunately, the museums were closing and it was all in German so we couldn't fully appreciate their values.
But we chanced upon this nice little tavern where I had my first sipped of German beer.
Dinner @ Brasserie Tresznjewski |
We had 2 glasses of beers with club sandwiches and their in-house burger that cost us Euro $30 (total bill). I think the bill was reasonable given that we were in Munich City Centre.
After which, we returned for a early night as the next morning, it's going to be a Royal Castle trip. Day trip cost us Euro $44 per pax with additional Euro $22 for the entrance fees to both castles. Lunch was excluded. We also visited the Oberammergau Village which the local guide explained "Ober" as in "upper", "Ammer" name of rive and "gau" area. So we were at the upper area of the river -Ammer. In Oberammergau, we saw the famous Passion Theater which only opened for their Passion Show every 10 years.
Set off very early before 8am to make our way to the designated bus stop. Everyone was punctual but traffic was bad. We were stuck in the jam for a while before we reached our 1st stop - Linderhof
Along the way, we saw meadows and meadows of flowers and farms.
It was quite a sight to behold… I wished the Poh boys could experience it with me.
surroundings of Linderhof & Neuschwanstein |
As no photography was allowed in both castles - Linderhof and Neuschwanstein, I only had photos of their surroundings which were really beautiful too.

Lunch @ Muller |
Lunch was at Muller where we tried some Bavaria food. It cost us about Euro $30 (total bill).
sourvenirs |
Bought some souvenirs at these tourist spots and we headed back to Munich city centre by 7pm. Then it was packing up to fly more.
It was really a short stay at Munich and more could be done if we had more days. But I hope the next time would be with the Poh boys.
