2 x 2 = 4

21 November 2013

We celebrated our 4th year of blessed union by His grace. 4th wedding anniversary is like fruit, flower and silk. 4th year denotes the smoothing of initial adjustment and difficulties in the beginning years. Signifies the silky road ahead for the couple, bearing fruits and flowers from their commitment.

On this special day, we decided we would do the things we can't do when the kids are around. That would mean Spa and Movie.

I booked ourselves a LUSH Date with Lush Spa located at the Singapore Polo Club.

We were taken in by the tranquility of the surrounding. There was no horses for me to sight, unfortunately. What we had was peace and quietness.

Lush Spa

Lush spa was at the 2nd level where the gym is and really, I do adore the quietness in the whole environment. We were greeted warmly by the staff and was asked if we would prefer ginger tea or water. We were given some time to fill in our particulars and rest before we were being introduced the different types of scrub salt available and the add-on of essential oils for the massage.

salt for scrub

Since we would want to have a relaxing spa, we were introduced to lavender, eucalyptus, citrus and coconut oil. We picked eucalyptus for a refreshing feel.

essential oil blends

Then we were asked if we would like to add on essential oil blend for our massage. Darren declined and opted for the usual grapeseed oil while I decided I need an extra to soothe my aching muscles.

Thereafter, we were ushered to our spa room... the moment we were eagerly waiting for.

spa room with our own steam room & jacuzzi

We were told to change out and our therapists, Gigi and Sally then helped us to our foot bath. Next up, was the body scrub with our choice of eucalyptus salt. Honestly, I hadn't done a body scrub before and it did feel that a sandpaper was rubbing up down all over me. However, the after effect of the scrub left my skin really smooth.

Once we had our body scrub, we were ushered to our steam room where we spent the next 20 mins steaming... or in Darren's words, becoming char siew bao. Don't get me wrong, the steam bath was wonderful and when was the last time we got 20 minutes all to ourselves without rushing to get to anywhere. So we had that 20 minutes steaming and making frivolous talks and giggling like school children.

We took a quick shower to wash off the remaining scrub salt before going into the jacuzzi.

champagnes & strawberries

By the side of the jacuzzi, we were served champagnes and strawberries. So in the following 30 minutes of jacuzzi, we pretended to be swimming and at times, relaxing and dozing off. We had the champagnes and ate up the strawberries.

The finale was a 90 minutes massage. It was so good to fix those knots and aching muscles that we fell asleep in the session. Yes, fatigue was the key word when I called Lush Spa to book this package. They remembered and worked at easing off our fatigue and letting us have a real relaxing moment.

At the end of this 3 hour work, we emerged fresh!

freshly done

We were ushered to the lounge for another cup of ginger tea.

feeling all refreshed

The whole experience was terrific and I am secretly thinking of coming back again for Darren's birthday.

We left the place and headed to our next event of the day - Movie!

When was our last movie together? Was it the Madagascar 3? Wasn't it in June 2012? Yes...  it was that  long. We had wanted to catch Captain Philips but the timing was not suitable so we ended up watching The Hunger Game.

Caught the movie at The Cathay and because of the long absence to cinema halls and we were running later, we were a little flustered when we reached. Next I was very surprised to see the cinema hall almost full house. Who could be so free to catch movie on a Thursday in the afternoon 2pm? Who else? Students on holiday.

Nothing to rave about the movie and I googled today to understand the movie more. Apparently, Hunger Game was a big hit with the youngsters. I guess it was all the fantasy and sic-fic that made the youngsters gone awed.

Dinner was with the 2 boys at Sakuraya. Sashimi for us, miso soba for Jon and chawanmushi for Matt. Didn't took photos of our lovely dinner as we were all famished. We also had grilled squid and wafu salad and teriyaki grilled cod. We ordered too much that we had to pack the soba as takeaway.

Then the boys had their first photo with christmas tree.

It was a perfect day. Uninterrupted, peaceful and quiet. Wonderful dinner with my lovely boys. Ending with a whimsical touch from the Christmas decor.

It really had been an enriching 4 years.

brothers in PJs

Our first year was a carefree newly wedded couple. Jon came along in our 2nd year. Matt's arrival was a total surprise in our 3rd. Now that we are at our 4th, we are ready to embark on our next adventure - travelling with kids.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Post note:

4 years ago on 21 Nov 2009 5.30am, I was doing my bridal makeup, getting ready for the exciting day ahead. He was nervous and didn't sleep a wink.

3 years ago on 21 Nov 2010 5.30am, we celebrated with a staycation at Fullerton. We even smuggled Robo into our hotel room.

2 years ago on 21 Nov 2011 5.30am, we fed Jonathan his milk, changed his diaper and made him sleep while we both lie on our bed exhausted.

1 year ago on 21 Nov 2012 5.30am, we slept through the night with Jonathan in between us. Hopefully next year, we are still able to sleep through the night peacefully.

This year 21 Nov 2013 5.30am, I went back to slumber land after giving Matthew his milk and changed his diaper. A routine that I am accustomed now.
