The Royal Caribbean Experience - Overall experience

I can't remember what it was like to be on a Star Cruise. All I could remember was that Star Cruise has more dining options. For a cruise vacation with the Royal Carribean, I would rate it 7 out of 10. The services were really good. Crew members were really friendly. The only minus point was the food. Not very delicious. But there was food served at all times of the day. Breakfast started at 6am for the early birds and ended at 11.30am for the late risers. Lunch can start at 11.30am to 2.30pm depending on what's the event for the day. Then there's the afternoon tea buffet happening from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Dinner was served from 6.30pm to 9pm and followed by supper from 10.30pm to midnight. So you won't have to worry about going hungry. There were also many activities at each corner of the ship if you choose to remain onboard after the ship has docked. But purchases made onboard was all tagged in USD. Bill can be settled by cash (USD) or credit card at the end of the voya...

The Royal Caribbean Experience - Final day

Image
3rd day... we were sailing towards Malacca, the last port of call. We still missed the sunrise and sunset on our last day. So we went to the gym again before heading for breakfast. Here's my eggy breakfast - Hard boiled egg, egg omelette and egg white omelette. After breakfast, we went to the open deck again and watch people doing their activities. Finally, saw the rock climbing in action. There was a long queue for rock climbing. I wonder how it feels like to do rock climbing on a sailing ship. And I tried out the mini golf. Indoor activities - The atrium saw people coming for fruit craving demonstration while there was also people lingering around at the lounge for music and coffee. There's even a Ben & Jerry counter onboard. We also wandered into the Anchorweigh lounge and watched people playing Bingo. Finally close to 1pm, we reached Malacca. But the cruise ship was not allowed to dock. So there were tender boats to bring people onshore. Darren thought it was not safe f...

The Royal Caribbean Experience - Penang Port

On the 2nd day, we were too late to catch the sunrise. So we went to the open deck and soaked in all the breeze. Beautiful weather. There's one thing I like about cruise - that is away from the bustling of the cities life but into the vastness of the open sea. We had our gym session before heading for breakfast. After which, we went back to the cabin and I fell asleep. Yes during our cruise vacation, my routine was sleep - eat - sleep - eat... that's explained our sudden weight increase in both mummy n Xiao Poh. Lunch was late and I really savored all the salads and cut fruits. The bad point about cruise vacation is that you don't get fresh water and fresh vegetables and fruits. You can purchase bottled water which Royal Carribean is selling at USD 4.95 per 500mL of Evian water. We usually sneaked off to the water point at the gym and topped up our own bottle which was not recommended. Darren kept on saying we are drinking chlorinated water. By then, our cruise ship was do...

The Royal Caribbean Experience - Fine Dining

Image
After lunch, we had the compulsory Muster Drill which prepared all cruise people on board what to do during an emergency. It was hot and tiring and I was glad it finally ended after standing for almost 30 minutes. We were close to 4.30pm by the time we returned to our cabin. Our first activity on Legend of the Seas was a Captain's dinner. We were scheduled at 5.45pm for 1st seating at Deck 5 (Romeo & Juliet restaurant) So we showered and changed to our "wedding dinner" clothes and proceeded for our fine dining experience onboard. We weren't the worst dressed as there were people that turned up in Polo-T and jeans but certainly we weren't the best dressed too. The Japanese tourists really dolled up themselves to the nine. The guys came in blazers and ties. The ladies wore pearl necklaces and gowns. We were ushered to our table #39 and Izzit from Turkey was our server that night. I thought we would have a pre-ordered dinner but we were given a choice. After plac...

The Royal Caribbean Experience - All about the ship

Our Royal Caribbean experience started on Friday 20 May to Monday 23 May. We reached Harbourfront at 1pm and the whole check in procedure was chaotic. First, we thought we had done the checked-in online. Turned out that online checked-in was just submitting your personal particulars. So we were stopped from boarding and had to start from the 1st step. Manually checked in and got our boarding pass or sea pass. It was a good thing by then, most people had boarded the ship, so there was no queue left. We were finally close enough to Legend of the Seas. Boarding the cruise ship was liked entering the airplane. There were X-rays machine and metallic scanner. We dropped our bags at our cabin before heading for lunch. Lunch place was another chaotic experience that nearly ruined my vacation. The long and narrow corridor to our cabin. And shocked by our tiny cabin. From the doorway To our beds Toilet cubicle that resembled those in airplanes. And a little space craved out for shower We had a l...
