new camera

I know nowadays everyone carry their EOS cameras with their neck strap. But I'm not into that kind of photography. My ideal camera has to be compact so that I can slip into my bag at any time, take it out in a swift to snap a candid shot. It should be stylish with a funky colour. Away from the old fashioned silver digital camera. photo source : CANON camera My choice - CANON Digital IXUS 130. What do you think?

so GOOD

It's good to be back home. Back at my own sweet nest after away for a week. Though is not a long time, the feeling of lying on my own bed beats anything in the world. Will come back with my adventure in Far Far Away land and I hope is captivating enough to hold a good size audience. By the way, I realise is the Great Singapore Sale again. Can't wait to rub shoulders with the crowd to fish out a great bargain.

Home... Wait for me

Was away for 1 week at Far Far Away.... Enduring 20 over hours of flight to find myself stuck at Hong Kong International Airport. Put me on a plane home... soon.

Credit Card Fraud

Yesterday morning, I received a phone call on my mobile. Usually when my hands are tied, I don't pick up incoming calls. For some unknown reasons, I actually removed my double layer gloves to pick up this call. Thank God for that instinct! UOB Bank called. The staff was quick to introduce himself and then straight down to business. He asked if I had permitted this overseas transaction to this unknown party. The transaction amount was in Euro dollars. After confirming with me that this was an unauthorised transaction through my UOB credit card, he reassured me that this transaction would be void. He also adviced moi to stop using my UOB credit card and wait for a new card. Meanwhile, UOB swiftly blocked my existing card. Everything happened very fast and I was in rush for most of yesterday. It was only until 9pm, that I managed to call back the bank to verify that morning call was authentic. Come to think of it, UOB has impressed me with their banking service. I remembered the day I

32-2

Monday 17 May 2010 10am - woke up with a bad start. Oh oh! Back pain still there. Called up the clinic to request for medication but was told to come in for a review with the doctor. Arranged for an appointment at 2.15pm. 12pm - changed and headed to Dempsey for lunch @ PS Cafe. Got our table in a swift though restaurant was quite packed with lunch crowd. We looked through the menu and decided to order a Caesar salad which was really huge in portion. I really liked this caesar salad. I liked the way the dressing was mixed with the veggie, evenly done. What's really more special was this skewer of toasted breads. The taste was really unique, something like the Indian herbs and a tinge of tandoori flavour. Priced at $18, this was worth it. Next up, Portobello soup. Again huge in portion, served in a aladdin lamp. I would say that this soup was more of a mushroom blended baby food than really a soup. At $13, take it if you would prefer a more "solid" soup. Our mains..... His

a Sunday dinner

Image
My husband wanted to treat me to the French stall but my back pain suddenly relapsed after a short period of unpacking boxes. It was quite bad and I had to lie for almost a whole day. Only managed to go for a quick Ikea trip. Had my dinner at Anchor Point's food court. I ordered a beef lasagna and it turned out to be the most cheesy lasagna that I have ever eaten. My beef lasagna swimming in a pool of cheese.

Storm

Image
There was a thunderstorm just now. The wind was howling and the trees swayed so violently. Sometimes ago in somewhere, I read this " Sometimes God calm the storm. Sometimes God calm the child in the storm ."

the kind of Saturday I like

Al Fresco breakfast. A whole afternoon to myself. Surf. Watch. Read. Work. I get to surf the net. I get to watch my TV. I get to read my book and magazines. I get to work on the house chores. Rewarding myself for a day meaningfully used. A bowl of mushroom soup and cheese ham sandwich.

the kind of Breakfast I like

Image
woke up when Mr Sun was already up high high. Made our way down to West Coast Park for a leisure Mac's breakfast. I love my cafe mocha. Thanks to the barista who did this beautiful coffee art. But this beautiful morning was disrupted by numerous calls to my hubby. In the end, we had to cut short our morning breakfast time as he needed to rush down to customer's site. But still though we were in a hurry, how can I just gulp down my coffee, destroying the effort? So I left the art intact. Satisfied.

Violin Teacher Needed!

Image
Picture Source : http://www.iamjen.com/images/violin.jpg I'm looking for a Violin Teacher for myself. My ideal violin teacher should be 1) female 2) stays in the west zone because I like to have the lesson at my own place 3) flexible in timing 4) provides me an hour lesson fortnightly Background info on myself 1) no issue with notes reading and theory as I play the piano (I hold a diploma in Piano Performance from London College of Music) 2) picked up violin lessons for 6 months previously and that's 4 years ago 3) have my own violin 4) have Suzuki Book 1 - 3 and other repertoire books 5) learning more for leisure than for examination If you are keen to coach me, please leave a message down and we can discuss the details. (This is not a joke. Female violin teacher that can travel to my place is scarce. Have been looking for one and no luck. So apply if you can commit. Thank you.)

1st of May

Image
We had wanted to catch a movie on this day. 2 block busters, both sequels - Ip Man 2 and Iron Man 2. We went down to Plaza Singapura (PS) on our own sweet time, thinking that we would just buy whichever best timing movie we could get. But I forgot 1st May was a public holiday and you can guess. Every movie showtime was sold out. So we walked around PS aimlessly and then we walked past KFC at the basement. On an impulse, we went in and ordered a 2 pieces chicken meal and egg tart. 2 piece chickens in Original and Crispy were no surprise. But egg tart in KFC? Yup, KFC now had egg tart. Our conclusion : One reason why we don't fancy KFC is their oily fried chicken, which was the reason why we couldn't finish our 2 piece chickens. As for their egg tart, I found it oily too, though the egg tart was soft inside and crispy on the outside. It tasted sweetly and for a little egg tart, you were expected to pay $1.30 for it. Pricing wise was on the steep end. So try only if you have nothi

Review of a Concert

Image
I'm excited to write a review of this concert. Firstly, it was a first in Singapore and secondly, it was a first for me to have a concert experience in University Cultural Center (UCC). If you could remember, we went to catch this inaugural anime and video games music concert on our date night last Friday. We went without expectation because seriously neither of us was a fan of any anime or video games. The first impression given was actually very bad. The crowd, well perhaps it was us, was young and very much hardcore fans of cosplay. They came in groups, dressed to suit the occasion. We were the only few (less than 5 fingers) that turned up "prim and proper" which was unfortunately considered as "ill-dressed" for the occasion. Secondly, the concert opened late. I thought I had gone for a banquet which was hardly surprising because nobody started dinner on time. 5 minutes passed 8pm and people was still strolling in. Being an Esplanade person, I couldn't to
