Winter Sonata Day 6

Winter Sonata Journey Day 6 - 11 January 2010 Monday

This was it! We woke up early, changed into our ski suit and all geared up. All ready for our ski trip.

We walked out our hotel and entered into the ski park. But first, we took a cable ride up to the highest slope to have a bird's eye view of Phoenix Park.

road block - take a breath and ski down from the advance slope

not convinced it was the steepest? check this out.

Sometimes, it's good just to play safe.

The real thing started after we got down from the highest point - by cable. Since we had anticipated plenty of falling, the camera was put away for its safety. But I tell you, even though it was a -9°C out there, we were sweating away.

At one point, I was so tired I just sat on the snow ground.

We packed up and left Phoenix Park at noon and headed for a nearby restaurant for our lunch.

Dumpling Hotpot - Kimchi Dumpling included, anyone?

Our next destination was a 3 hour drive away. We were getting nearer to Seoul now.

Actually I was rather surprised that Lotte World was built right smack in Seoul city. We reached about 4pm. Lotte World divided themselves into indoor and outdoor. All frightening rides were situated outdoor while the safe rides were all indoor.

We were given 5 free rides' passes. But we used it all indoor. Partly because the wind was strong, which only meant that it was very cold outdoor and also, while the spirit was willing, the flesh no longer could take that kind of excitement.

Welcome to Lotte World

Carousel - reminded me of Lance

There was another surprise. The tour agency had arranged for us to stay in this super 6 star hotel or should i say service apartment. It was so grand and awesome and wonderful that I am going to devote another entry just to talk about this superb place.

But right now, back to Seoul and it was OTOT (own time own target). We decided to venture out to their streets along with some other group people.

Neon Light - the Heart of Seoul

Along the streets, we could see a lot of Korean restaurants, only one or two foreign restaurants, many cafes (they really love coffee) and a few clothes and shoes shops.

Long Legged Crabs

Bought a bun from their bakery. I couldn't resist this yummy and good looking cheese-ham-cream "peach" bun.

exquisite "peach" bun

It was our final 2 days in Korea by now. What other adventures could we have? Stay tune to find out....
