Sizzling from the East

To celebrate the end of my french test, Darren drove me all the way to the extreme East of Singapore. Wah.. really far, considered we are both westerners all our life. But good things are worth the trouble and so this is the good thing...

If you are a steak lover and like Botak John, then this is it! You just got to try this place. Situated at Tampines St. 11, in Kopitiam, there is Aston. What's Aston?

Aston specializes in western food, from a range of grilled fish to chicken chop to sirloin steak. Pick a main and selects 2 side dishes. Prices are relatively lower than Botak John.

I had grilled fish with herbs, completed with coleslaw and mashed potato. The fish was really fresh and tender. Although the sauce was a little creamy, the sauce complimented the fish quite well. My mashed potato was better than KFC's and it was a huge ball of my fist. The only thing that needed acquire taste would be the coleslaw. I wonder was it the veggies or the sauce, as it left a tangy tingy feeling in my mouth which I didn't really know how to appreciate it.

Darren had his teriyaki chicken with onion rings and coleslaw. If you think that the chicken had been charred, you are wrong. In fact, there wasn't any charred bite in this yummy dish. The teriyaki sauce wasn't overwhelming like some of the stalls would do. The chicken was tender and you would feel sick of taking the whole chunk of it. The onion rings were rather small in portion but nonetheless, they were not all just flour.

The finale was the icy home made lemon tea. Washed it down well with what we had. What a gem in the East!
