18 week and counting

Image
Should I rejoice and be happy that I lost weight in this pregnancy and has not gained any weight at all? do i even look preggie? This pregnancy is really so so different from Jonathan's time. I lost weight, could not eat and faced a multiple of complications. I am now look after by Dr Ho which is really assuring although his bill is not cheap. I'm going back to him every 2 weeks and in a month, the gynae bill is easily 1k. Put aside the bills, my cervix keeps getting shorter. I'm losing 2mm every 2 weeks which I don't know if I can really make it to full term. I would not mind paying the gynae fee if I can keep XP2 inside till full term. Having a premature baby would be the last that I want, although I know at some point of time, I may need to be warded for closer monitoring. For now, as Jesus said "Do not let your hearts be troubled" John 14:14 I believe God will look after us and when a miracle is born, all glory to Him! Amen!

Fullhouse @ Rendevous

Someone recommended me Fullhouse @ Rendevous Hotel. Last Thursday, we took a day leave to run our errands and also to check out suitable venues for Jonathan's birthday party. lunch @ Fullhouse We had our lunch there. Darren ordered a set lunch with mushroom ham spaghetti in cream sauce. The set came with soup of the day (cream of mushroom) and ice lemon tea for $19.90 ++. I ordered an aglio olio that had nothing except garlic and sun dried tomatoes ($13.90++) and a flower tea of peppermint and lavender ($6.90++) The food was so-so and the service was so-so. But the main dining area is spacious. main dining area The place is really ideal for hosting party. Well, the buffet menu is pricey, tagged at $35 per pax to $55 per pax and minimum of 30 pax to use their entertainment room. The entertainment room is well equipped with audi visual equipment and is exclusive to the party group only. private dining room Fullhouse also has smaller dining area

Lousy Service

In June this year, Darren and I purposely made a trip down to Foster the English Rose cafe located at Holland Village to make a reservation for 20 pax for Jonathan's birthday celebration. On the spot, we even asked the staff if we need to make a deposit to secure the reservation. The reply was NO. On Monday, 23 July, I kept receiving call from Foster. First was to ask if I am going to confirm my reservation. Then asked if we could be seated outdoor. The reason given, they have another 30 pax reservation on the same day. I said NO because we first make the reservation and why should I compromise. Then another call again to ask if I could change the timing. This round, I'm really pissed off. I said a firm NO and the staff got the manager to call me. The manage called very shortly, speaking in a bullet train style, insisting that either 1) change our timing 2) change our date or 3) cancel our reservation! His tone was super RUDE! and what does it mean that they couldn'

Who's more stress? Parents or Child?

Last Thursday Straits Times reported how some of the popular schools had limited vacancies for Phrase 2B. Taken from Straits Time, Thursday 19 July 2012 Boy.... Our choice of school for Jonathan was in the list. This is real and it is so competitive. It seems like in Singapore, from getting a flat to enrolling your child in kindergarten to primary school, it is like a mad race and super competitive. Must thank God that when we first scouted our flat, the Bukit Batok deal was called off. If not, 6 years later, we will be biting our finger nails as we await for the ballot result. Thank God for His planning and timing that we ended up in Clementi, within 1km of Nan Hua Primary  and being an old girl (and planning to join the alumni - to get a guarantee and confirm chop we're in), we should have a relatively good chance to get Jonathan in under Phrase 2A. This of course provided our government doesn't change the rules and we stay put where we are for next  6 y

Challenging Journey

Never thought I would ever encounter a challenging pregnancy myself, afterall, when I was carrying Jonathan, everything was a breeze. Now at 16 weeks 2 days, after going to 4 different doctors for their consultation, and endless googling on information, 2 problems surfaced. Technically, I'm now known as high risk pregnancy with threatened miscarriage. The 1st aim is to make it to week 26. At the last visit to the gynae, I'm glad I managed to meet Dr Ho HK from Mt A. After hearing what we got to say, he went down to business. He's detailed, experienced and careful. Did a thorough check on me. Placenta - Yes, it is still low lying and it is still covering my cervix opening. But Dr Ho did a scope and found that it was the edge of the placenta covering the cervix. So it was not as bad as a case where the placenta sits squarely on the cervix. There's still hope of the placenta moving up but he won't say whether it's good chance, slim chance or high chance. S

Bird Park Adventure

Image
12 July 2012 (Sunny Thursday afternoon) Jonathan went on his first bird park trip. Again, he looked so bewildered at everything. This round, he could focus better on the birds. Probably the birds were constantly on the move, so it attracted his attention. As like his zoo trip, we went for the show and he enjoyed it. More likely due to the fact he was surrounded by little school children. He really enjoyed being in the company of little kids. The show was quite entertaining, probably the energy level was made high by the enthusiastic students. And of course, we left for home again after the show. It was a good thing we went on the trip using corporate card.

Becoming a little boy instead

Image
Next month, he will be celebrating his Big 1! How time flies... he was such a tiny little baby at 2.68kg and 10 months later, he has grown to be a mighty little boy of 9.6kg. He amazed us by knowing how to sip water from his mag mag cup after 2 days of trying. Knows how to clap his hands one fine day. And holding his own milk bottle without prompting. While he's a good natured, friendly and joyful baby, he started to show his moodiness at times. While many said he probably won't understand what I was saying to him about his upcoming sibling, I felt otherwise. He would turn his head away when I tried to tell him that he's going to be a big kor kor soon. Then he would be quiet and moody for a while. My baby! You are mummy's firstborn. You will forever have a special place in mummy's heart.

to the zoo, to the zoo

Image
Since we had to take 2 weeks leave to stay home and look after Jonathan ourselves, we went to the zoo last Thursday using my company's corporate card. Free entry for all of us. The weather was also good, cloudy throughout our trip there. It was Jonathan's first ever trip to the zoo. He really looked lost and bewildered at everything. Since morning was his longest nap time, we reached the zoo quite late at 2.30pm. We took the tram and headed straight to the Children's World. Caught the Animal Friend's show at 4pm. This was the only time he broke into a smile, truly enjoying himself with the songs and dances. He was also fascinated with the bubbles machine. And wasn't scare of making friends with the dogs. It was a really short trip. We left for home after the show and Jonathan was already sleeping soundly in his pram.
