Smile! We are on Candid Camera!

Image
23 May 2012 Okay, we are not exactly on candid camera but we were definitely on a camera. This story began on 21 April 2012 when we attended the Learning Vision open house. Thereafter, we went to Harbourfront for Jonathan's weekly swim. Just as we were to return home, Darren spotted a Canon booth and edged me to take free photos with Jonathan. When we went closer, we then learnt that they were there to take free photos for mum and babes and then submitted the photos to Today's Parents for a photo contest. I was not too keen to take as I didn't put on any makeup and we (all of us) were dressed too causally, plus Jonathan was getting very tired from his swim. But Darren kept telling me to go ahead, citing that it is FREE. So okay, the ladies at the booth were very nice (all thanks to Jonathan). They allowed us to take multiple shots and even printed 3 photos for us (2 were a family shot, and the last was to submit for the contest). The photo that was selected t

Trial Class @ GymnAdemics

Image
20 May 2012 We signed up for a trial class for Jonathan at GymnAdemics located at Midview City (Sim Ming vicinity). The trial class was organized by the SMH Sept 11 mummies (yes, they are such a great bunch of mummies!) and I tagged along with them. GymnAdemics uses GD program which is Glenn Doman flashcards program and they incorporated physical and music and language (English and Chinese). $38 for a trial class of 1hr 15 mins lesson. We started with free play and parents are allowed to accompany their babies. However, socks must be worn at the premises. Here we are... with Jonathan watching intensely at the flashcards being flashed. I think he is used to having flashcards at home, so he was able to sit quietly and pay attention when the teacher did a 1-to-1. We also learnt how to encourage our little ones to creep and then crawl. In fact, we were told by the teachers that Jonathan has very little floor time, hence he was not able to creep (move forwa

Happy Birthday to Myself!

Image
17 May 2012 Celebrated my birthday in a simple but cosy fashion. Darren brought the maid and Jonathan to the nearby mall and surprise me with a Baskin Robbin's ice cream cake. It was a nice surprise as I thought they went out to pack lunch only. Plus, Darren thought it would be nice to have ice cream cake (as this was my very first ice cream cake) than a usual creamy one. Thanks for the sweet thought, dear! After having a small piece, we went out to TCC for lunch and some shopping. Nothing fanciful but I feel very blessed to have Darren and Jonathan with me.

His First Hair Cut

Image
6 May 2012 Jonathan had his first ever hair cut at Junior League (Suntec). I have never shaved his hair and never cut any bit of his hair. So we were a little apprehensive on his reaction. I really wanted to make a pleasant experience for him and Junior League was a good decision. Getting his hair cut Jonathan did not fuss, did not cry and did not even make any movement. He just sat there, watched a little of the cartoon, occasionally looked up at the hair dresser. He was such a good little boy! I was so proud of him, because the next baby (looked older than him) cried the house down. a new look Jonathan looked slightly different after his maiden hair cut. He looked much older than his age but he looked much better now with his trimmed hair. Certainly very boyish now ;p

Food Jar

Image
A 2nd attempt at making porridge saw improvement in texture. Instead of slow cooker, which my mum likes, I prefer it over the stove. Broccoli Porridge Since weekend is the only time I could do porridge on my own, I usually prepare it during Jonathan's morning nap. But by the time, it is ready, he might still be sleeping. So I went down to Isetan some time this week to get a thermal food jar for him. Thermos Initially wanted to get Tiger brand but the size was not correct. Ended up only Thermos Foogo had the right size. I hope it serves the purpose well. Going to use it later and see if it can really keep the porridge hot enough still.

Simple Meals

Image
Without a maid for 3 weeks definitely left me very busy and very tired. But surprisingly, I still could manage to sneak in a few simple meals. chicken with lettuce porridge stir-fried Kai Lan with fried egg grilled salmon with oregano herbs ABC soup with plenty of carrots, potatoes, corns, onions and tomatoes with pork ribs stir-fried asparagus with zucchini It would be nice if I have more time to cook. Would love to do steak at home or a roasted chicken :)

Then we mixed in asparagus and zucchini into his porridge. Very soon, he will be having fish porridge. My little baby is definitely growing up fast!
