Lift Upgrading Series

Image
I'm going to track the lift upgrading work since (1) it directly affects me; (2) it is next to me; (3) I'm the end user. Last Thursday, we came home and found that the workers had cordoned off our area. Our shoe rack and remaining tiles were shifted to the staircase. Yesterday, there were a lot of hacking which made me felt so ill with all the noise. So we went out to avoid the noise. By the time we came back, I was glad that they were done with our level and had moved down. I peeped into the little window and realised all the hacking didn't mean that they were hacking away the wall. Darren said that they were probably hacking the ledge first to build reinforcement before tearing down the window grill and hack away the wall to build the extension. This sure wasn't good news to me. I hope we are away when they finally start to hack away the wall and tear down the window grill and be done by the time we are home.

Farewell, my Robo

Image
21st February 2011 - my Robo breathed his last breath and bid me goodbye. My Robo, sleeping in this impossible sleeping position Robo was purchased as my birthday gift on 17 May 2009. He was a little sleepy little hamster that did not even bothered to look at us when we peeped into his cage with all his friends. I picked him because I thought (1) he looked fat; (2) he looked docile (actually he was a sleepy little hammy) Robo was 3 months old when he came and lived with me, in his little orange cage. And we bought him a little white house so that he could have his own privacy. my Robo, so fat and all fluffy Robo, eventually had a lot of nicknames. Ro-ka-bo, Ro-ki-bo, fat Bo Bo, Ro-Ka-bo-bo, small Robo... When I got married, Robo came and lived with me, us in our new place. He was like the little king in our house. He was still sleeping when we left for work. Woke up when we came home, because he knew we would give him little treats. Robo - looking like a little pussy cat He was a well ...

Human Anatomy Department

Image
I am always fascinated by the human anatomy. What started life was 2 of a 23 chromosome cells that evolved and developed to millions, billions, trillions of cells. Each with their own intrinsic webs of functions. With the last of my Borders' gift voucher, I headed down to Borders for a new stock up of books. I was thrilled to find this book. Have been so awed by all the pictures and scans. This will definitely keep me occupied for quite a while.

Tea Break (Last Sunday)

Image
Had tea break at Coffee Club last Sunday. Chocolate Passion Embrace Cake Apple Juice Was disappointed with what we got. The passion fruit base of the cake was too sour for my liking. Coincidentally, my apple juice also turned out to be sour. Hardly my sweet dessert for a Sunday afternoon.

Hungry for Shredded Chicken Congee?

Image
I'm so glad I made shredded chicken congee for lunch today. After all the CNY feasting, having a plain simple congee is really good for the stomach. Yummy!

Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust....

Image
I am living in Dust land ever since the lift upgrading program has started. At first, it was just our passage way got blocked. Then all the grasses were gone. Now, look at the amount of dust at my window ledge! We didn't dare to open our window anymore. We kept them closed most of the time. Only when we were home, then I just opened a very small gap to allow air circulation. Still, everyday I feel that my feet is walking on dust. The notice given to us was that this lift upgrading would need 2 years. I hope the workers would speed up and done away with all the hacking and piling. The noise is also giving me a headache. Can you imagine my workplace is undergoing renovation and at home, there's also hacking. I hope I can still sane after 2 years! May God bless me!!

I won't call myself a donut fan. But I was surprised at the cute donuts in the box. From Donut Factory.... presents All lovey-dovey heart shaped donut which was lemon chocolate flavour. Tasted yummy! Children's donut to bring the smile back on you! And the conventional chocolate peanut donut.. So don't think too much about the calories and enjoy!

the Aftermath when Bunny hops in....

Image
CNY is such a busy festival for me. From spring cleaning to rushing for 2 reunion dinners to all the visiting, finally it is coming to an end. Not that it was all hard and no fun, carrying this bunny bag out was quite fun for me. Got my bunny bag from Pu Tien. So cute! Check out the bunny tail... Instead of putting mandarin oranges in it, I stashed all the ang bao into this bunny bag. This was the 2nd year that we were giving out the ang bao and so this bunny bag was really useful. And surprise surprise! I thought only singles get to receive ang bao, we also get to receive : ) And it was quite a handful of ang baos we got. When bunny hops in.... there is carrot everywhere!
