When?

I have been feeling very downcast lately. When will I have a change of environment? When will I have my wish come true? When?

Victor's Crown

You have won the victor’s crown You have triumphed over sin and death Your Name is lifted high and reigns Throughout all the earth Every demon spirit in hell Trembles when Your mighty name is heard And we Your church enforce the victory in the world O the glory of Your Name The splendour of Your Name None can compare with the power of that Name You are Jesus You are Lord You are God

JB Makan Trip - Part 2

Now that we were in Johor, our tour guide did some basic introduction to us regarding our next door neighbour. Johor is a state in which Johor Bahru is a town or province. Pontian is another province in the state of Johor. Pontian is well known for its seafood since it is next to the open sea and also for the Pontian wanton noodle, which used tomato sauce instead. Then there's the pineapples too. Pontian itself is divided to Big Pontian which people still fish for a living. while the small Pontian is more commercial with shops. Our next stop is Teochew Porridge for lunch. Traditional sweet potato porridge. We had a total of 8 courses of dishes to go along with our porridge. Really very full after this lunch. I was quite relieved to know that our next stop was a non-food event. We were driven to this factory to watch how the local produced costume jewellery. It was a Saturday yet there was still people working in the factory. This job requires good eyesight and lots of patience. Thi

JB Makan Trip - Part 1

My home church organised a 1-day JB Makan trip yesterday. The response was great with 3 buses loaded of people looking forward to an exciting day. Since it was a makan trip, we wasted no time in sampling all the local fares. Our first stop was at a Kampong for good old Nasi Lemak. Homemade sambal with quail eggs, fried kampong chicken whose meat was really tender and mini curry puffs. There were also ikan bilis and peanuts. Coconut snacks were dessert. There was also the popular fried mushrooms. Then we were showed how the kampong people grow their mushrooms. Using the eco-biotech method, the people used a combination of sawdust and water, adding in lime powder, the mushroom packs were placed in a dark house to cultivate. Bloom bloom.... the mushroom sprang to live in a few days time. After the visit to the mushroom farm, we proceeded for morning tea. We arrived at this grand Pontian Hotel for a spread of dry mee siam, cakes, fried bananas and local dessert which was green bean sago wi

For a Slimmer leg

We first saw this advertisement on a MRT train while heading to Changi Airport. I didn't think much of it. But last Saturday, we headed down to the Scholl's warehouse sale and saw these on sales. Compression stocking in short. Wear during your sleep and wake up for slimmer looking legs. I have since wore it to sleep twice but didn't notice any difference on my chunky legs. So much for slimmer looking legs.

Sweet Blessing

What can this orange sweet bring you? The answer.... a $10 Tangs Voucher. My company is probably the few that celebrates National Day. And on that day, there was a charity drive. Staff donated a $2 to get a chance for lucky dip. So I put in my $2 dollar and just fish for a sweet from a covered box. And whoah.... I actually got myself a prize. Lucky me, am I? How can I be lucky without His blessing from above? Not once or twice, God has blessed me richly. Whatever I need, His provision would provide. Remember how we bought our flat? The events that led us in securing our very own place, within our budget, in the area we wanted and the timing. I couldn't help but be so in awed by how God works. And God is so ever faithful to those who love Him. With our wedding and the renovation of the house, we were quite tight in our budget to furnish our house. But God continued to supply us in our need. We actually won the grand prize in a contest organized by CATS classified. When the manager c

Phuket - Odds & There

There are lesser street hawkers at Patong compared to the olden times (think before Tsunami 2006). However, the ever popular pancake was still around. I ordered a banana crepe with chocolate for 85 Baht. First, make the crepe. Then add in the banana. Put in the chocolate sauce. Wrap up the crepe. Plate it... And the final product.... Yummy and Good! There are also many starbuck outlets around. On our last day, we strolled along the beach and sat in one of the outlets for a cup. Enjoying the morning with our drinks... Totally relaxing... A nice end to our holiday...

Phuket - Just for the Foodie

This entire post is devoted to all the yummy food we ate in Phuket. In fact, I'm glad we brought along a laptop. This really proved to be a good move as we googled for the best establishment to have our meal in Patong. Breakfast was served in the hotel's patio ground. It was an international buffet. The usual stuff you can find in most typical hotel's breakfast. Our 1st lunch was however, left much to implore. We were hungry. We just sat down at the 1st decent looking stall. The pricing was okay but the food was not what we expected. The Phai Thai was wet and the noodle was actually the glass noodle. Our 1st dinner was a walk down in the backlane and we chanced upon the 6 restaurant. It was among the top few restaurant recommended by Trip Advisor. We always had a vegetable dish in all our meals. But strangely, the thai named their vegetables quite differently from us. For example, this Kai Lan was called chinese broccoli over there. I wasn't really satisfied with this g
